Services
Prairie Mental Health Services offers unique, community based psychiatric and mental health services to the residents of West Central Missouri. Prairie Mental Health Services is locally owned by Bruce Fletcher, RN, APRN, BSc, BSN, MN, PMHNP-BC, a board certified Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Prairie Mental Health Services are based on two important fundamental concepts. The first, collaborative relationships between the patient and the mental health provider produce the best clinical outcomes; and the second, the wide panorama of human suffering does not yield easily to simple solutions.
The best health care outcomes are the result of a partnership between the health care provider and the patient. Some mental disorders are temporary, many are episodic and others can last a lifetime. A mental disorder should not define who one is or who one becomes. Professional assistance can offer empowerment to patients to seek a full and meaningful life.

Bruce and Janet have time and time again helped me with giving me the tools I need to improve and change my life. I’ve been to therapists in the past (and have been scared/apprehensive for years about therapy) but I’ve been seeing them for the last three years and I’ve finally made a breakthrough. Sometimes it takes the questions a therapist asks for you to see things from a new perspective and you can continue to ask yourself those same questions and use those same tools for your own self talk/therapy. I can’t thank them enough for the impact they’ve had and continue to have in my life

I have been going here for 5 years and working with Bruce has had an enormously positive impact on my life. He is patient and understanding and is always looking for new ways to help his clients. He also stays up to date with his profession; is always researching and learning about new concepts within the field.
I've never had any problems with billing or being pressured to make appointments the entire time I've gone here. They've always been flexible and easy to contact. I would recommend him to anyone in need of mental health services.

Bruce Fletcher seems like a nice guy who means well, but he was considerably late for a few appointments and I was billed outside of my insurance for something that I should not have been billed for. I also spent WAY more time with him doing LONG tedious tests and questionnaires than actually any REAL therapy.

Everything in the previous review is right. The "nurse" is actually Fletcher's wife. I never knew her exact title. In the beginning, he makes you believe he's great. Then he starts acting more controlling. He wants constant contact via calls or office visits. $$
He spends way too much time questioning parents instead of talking to the patient. He can only recommend certain prescriptions and you'll have to have your doctor prescribe.
After I was sent a warning text about not updating him and him threatening to not work with us any longer (weekly should have been enough) we were sent a dismissal

I would give this less than one star if I could. We took our son here to get evaluated to ADHD based on the referral from our family doctor and the minute I told Bruce Fletcer I did not agree with his opinion of the situation and would never put my child on antipsychotics he refused to work with us anymore. He did not offer any alternatives would not finish the evaluation and completely refused to work with us because I did not agree with his opinion/treatment. This nurse practitioner was the most unprofessional medical "professional" I have ever had the misfortune of "working with". Would not
