After a devastating storm in March of 1962 Daniel Moore, Sr., a local business man and dairy farm owner, borrowed a sod cutter from the Ocean City Golf Course and began selling "pasture sod" to hotels and businesses in Ocean City, Maryland, in order to help them quickly restore their heavily damaged lawns.
Shortly thereafter he established Moore's Sod Farms and quickly improved his product by planting and growing high quality "cultivated sod" that he began selling to customers all over the eastern shore. As the business grew he expanded into general landscape construction, serving both residential & business customers.
