As a teenager in the early 1960's, Ken became intrigued by the sound and rhythm of the auctioneer. Soon he mastered the auction "chant" well enough to become a Kentucky Amateur Champion in 1965. He furthered his professional skills by completing the Nashville Auction School in 1966. Mr. Byrd graduated from Western Kentucky in 1971 with a BS degree in Agri-Business.
