Services
Harris Funeral Home was first established in the early 1900s in Nebo, Kentucky by Mr. Harris. At that time visitation was conducted in the home or at a local church then the body was conveyed by a horse drawn hearse for interment in the local cemetery.

Mr. Sydney T. Harris took over his father's business, and moved the funeral home to Madisonville, Kentucky in 1927 then purchased the Jennings property at 134 N. Main Street from Margaret Finley, in 1938 where it has been located until today.
We understand that making the many decisions which come at a time of loss can be difficult. We offer our support by providing you with two options as you consider making immediate arrangements. Please call us at (270) 821-6601 to make arrangements in person with a caring professional. With online Arrangements, you can take your time to select the arrangements which are best for your preferences and budget.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.
Most of us are not prepared to plan and carry out a funeral ceremony for someone we love. And so much of the information available on this critically important subject fails to focus on what is most important: having a personalized, meaningful funeral that helps families and friends begin the healing process of mourning after the death of someone we love.

Greatest staff ever. Many family and friends have had services here. If the Lord takes His time and I don't get raptured out, I guess I would not mind to be caught dead in a place like this.

The visitation and service were beautiful. I thought the director was paying attention to details, but then he blew it when, at end of grave side, he decided to vocally make clear of his disdain for the Covid virus. He said that we were all wearing masks but needed to trust God more! I am just getting over the virus and still wear my mask. While still needing God's help and love! I felt I was getting a lecture, of which was NOT needed at a funeral where I was grieving!! He was insensitive and cruel. No way would I let this man EVER around a grieving family!!!

I recently used the services of Harris Funeral Home, Madisonville, KY to handle a funeral while residing out of state. I was most impressed by their courtesy, professionalism and assistance. All arrangements were made by phone and everything was handled perfectly.

There are not enough amazing things that I can say about Trudi and the amazing Staff at Harris Funeral Home. We planned my grandfather's funeral from out of state and Trudi was amazing in answering all of our questions, concerns, and planning all of the fine details with us being so far away. Their professionalism and organization of his services were beautifully done and stress free! We are forever thankful for their help in remembering our wonderful grandfather.
