Powder Coating of Montana first opened in Missoula, Montana in 1985. As the original powder coater in the state the company grew rapidly and was soon servicing customers as far east as Billings. Due to customer demand a second shop was opened in 1999 in Belgrade. With both locations the company serviced customers across Montana and into North Dakota, Wyoming and Idaho.
In 2013 we sold the operations of the Missoula shop to our largest customer, Lifting Technologies, Inc. In order to better service their company they made the decision to close the shop and move all equipment to their facilities. Unfortunately they are no longer powder coating for customers. However, the Belgrade shop continues to serve Montana customers.

Services
Metal art items are always popular. Some are simple and some are very elaborate. Some are small and some have weighed in excess of a ton. We have coated up to a record of eighteen different colors on one piece. Many times we use a clear coat only to protect the piece from the elements but retain its metallic character.
Some of our most popular items are bicycles, motorcycles, snowmobiles, commercial and industrial objects, automotive parts, toys, home, garden and sports equipment, art work and sculptures. When we powder coat an item we place it in a 400-degree oven to cure. Therefore no powder-coated metal should be subjected to heat greater than 250 degrees, or the finish will fail.
We see many bicycles frames both with and without the fork. When working on bicycles all critical areas are masked as necessary and the parts are chemically stripped and blasted as needed to remove old finishes, rust and mill scale. We coat over clean metal only. We have faded three to five colors on a single bike and shot over a dozen colors on separate parts of one single bike.
This is a huge category limited only by the size of our ovens and our customers' imaginations. Many of the high-quality products shipped from Montana throughout the nation and even the world feature powder coating because of its durability. Some of these products include crane-suspended personnel and material platforms, children's premium wheelchairs, dyno testing equipment for motorcycles and vehicles, awning frames and hardware.
Snowmobiling is an extremely popular sport in Montana so we see many of these projects and coat parts for aftermarket manufacturers as well as individuals. Three of the four owners of Powder Coating of Montana, LLP are avid snowmobilers and have experience dating back to 1965. Some of the world's elite custom-built snowmobiles are built here in Montana and with few exceptions all contain parts that we have powder coated.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Value
They blasted the rust off my truck's grill guard and added a nice matte black finish. They even took it off and on for me. Really quick and professional work, it looks great and only took them 2-3 days! The cost wasn't bad at all. The guys in the shop were always really nice and professional. I highly recommend these guys.

I wish I could give these guys 6/5 stars. They were right on time with the time estimate they gave me, charged me considerably less than their original price estimate, and were helpful with putting my roof rack on after being powder coated. The gentlemen were all friendly and enjoyable to talk to. I’ll be back, thanks guys!
