Michael Catholic High School, a college preparatory school of the Archdiocese of Mobile, aspires for its students to become scholars, leaders and disciples of Jesus Christ. Recently Pope Francis spoke to young people, and encouraged them to strive for "magnanimity, " which he defined as " having a great heart, having greatness of mind; and having great ideals; the wish to do great things in response to what God asks of us."
We want our students to become magnanimous! We want them to "form great hearts and minds", so that they may live joyful lives, and in so doing, "do great things" for others. In his explanation of the virtue of magnanimity in the Summa, St. Thomas Aquinas reflects on its opposite, "pusillanimity, " which means, literally, "small mindedness."

We live in a world that too often underestimates you, that tells you that you are incapable of true scholarship (so it inflates your grades), or chastity (so it tells you to practice 'safe sex'), or handling disappointment (so it gives everybody a trophy). And the sad thing about this consistent messaging is that many young people begin to believe these things about themselves.
In explaining his reasons for choosing St. Michael for our school, Archbishop Thomas Rodi notes that in Scripture Rev. 12:7-12, the Archangel Michael led God's army to defeat the forces of evil in heaven. Archbishop Rodi wants St. Michael Catholic High School to become "a school that inspires students to be leaders for good, be it in their homes, communities or churches."
St. Michael is located at 11732 St. Michael Way previously Higbee. Drive, Fairhope, AL 36532, just off Highway 104, one mile east of the 104/Highway 181 intersection. In addition, we'll run a bus in the mornings and afternoons to originate just south of Foley, Al, through Robertsdale @ St. Patrick, and then onto the school.

A "Board of Trustees" (BOT) model is typical of most independent schools. It is comprised of either elected members (voted by the parents of the school) or appointed members (by the recommendation and approval of existing Trustees). As its name implies, an "independent" school BOT operates distinct from any higher "authority, " like as a bishop or superintendent, such that is serves as the highest "authority" in the school.
