The end of that greatest limitation of the air cooled Boxer, a small capacity charging system. Now, from Motorrad Elektrik, the Omega alternator kit for all 1970 through 1995 2-valve BMW twins. NOTE:1970 through 1973 Slash - 5 must use a / 6 round stator housing, used on all models from 1974 through 1995 Brush holder is the same part, and can be re-used.
Motorrad Elektrik is always working to raise the bar and make old Boxers better. This is the perfect replacement for the failure-prone starters fitted to the 1988 through 95 two-valve Boxers, and will also fit all 77-87 twins that came with Bosch starters. The starters are also available for all 1970 thru 76 Slash 5, Slash 6, and R90S models that have an 8 tooth drive gear!
The timing advance curve is selectable via a switch to best suit the requirements of any particular usage. One module is now able to provide the correct advance for both single plug as well as dual plug applications, simply by turning the small indicator to the correct number. The Alpha V.3 ignition is a fully digitally controlled system that eliminates the points, condensor, and mechanical spark advance unit of the original design.
Rugged PC board mounts on precision stainless brackets and machined aluminum posts that hold everything securely to the original tail light base, and the whole works is heavily coated in polyurethane. Extreme vibration resistance means no more regularly replacing the bulb in a big Single. Installation is as easy as removing the 2 lens screws, removing the original incandescent bulb, and plugging in the Beacon.
The only book you'll need to understand and administer to your Boxer electrical needs. No Airhead owner should be without this classic! Epic failure in customer service. I called to order parts needed for a bike that was not running. I was told the parts were in back order and I would have to wait one week for the parts to arrive from source. After a week I called back and was told it would be another week. I waited another week and then I was told the shipment was one short and my order was not filled, and the supplier was on vacation for three weeks. Rick did not offer any solution other than to another dealer. If you need any airhead BMW electric parts, used the west coast dealer, he always has the parts in stock and will ship
