Born in Antoura, Lebanon, Farris started by owning a custom clothing business where he employed seven tailors. He emigrated to Upstate New York in the 1950's and started a family with is wife May and their four children, Cathy, Larry, Louisa, and Joe. During this time he joined his brother Nahara in a Cortland, NY shop on Central Ave.
Sometimes it's planned, other times it's just plain ole inconvenient! Either way, it's a fact that we like it when our clothes fit just right. There's nothing that subconsciously puts a smile on our face. Most of the time there's no reason to go out and buy new clothes all the time. If you want that special shirt, blouse, suit, skirt or dress to fit again, check with us and let's see if we can just make a few ALTERATIONS!

Incredibly rude snarky service. Literally the worst. They butchered the hem of a rather expensive gown I brought them; the hem is uneven and marks were left on the fabric where a button was moved with no apology or explanation.
She offered to make a matching mask but I didn’t receive that either. In hindsite I realize I probably should have walked out the door after being treated so poorly. I’m not sure if it’s because she didn’t want the job as it was a complicated hem but dang, I’ve seriously never experienced such rude service. Over $200 for a terrible alteration. I didn’t feel

We should have just walked out after being condescended to such as we were by this woman, but with her location being what it was, we thought perhaps the attitude was just part of the overall schtick.
I mean, she's been working out of Cayuga Heights (the wealthiest town in NY North of Westchester and Rockland Counties) for many years, so in spite of herself, she must do an excellent job at her work, right? Wrong!!
Pants over an inch too long, suit pants that were extremely tight, despite the fact that there was plenty of additional fabric to let out, sleeves on the suit jacket and blazer too

I came in because I needed a button on my winter jacket (buttons on a jacket need a shank, which is slightly more difficult than sewing a regular button, and I preferred to go a professional). I told the woman there I did not have the original buttons. She told me she didn't have any buttons, to go and get one (At some other shop, forget the name), and to hurry on back because she closed at 2pm.
I've been to tailors in three continents. Never been asked to provide buttons. I have to add that she expressed all of this with a terrible attitude. Sorry, never going back there. Terrible customer service

A dying breed, this long running family business is a great asset in our community. These people are hardworking and reliable and have a tough manual job. I have been using Both Cortland and Ithaca locations for over 2 decades and have never had anything less than satisfactory service and great craftsmanship.
Are they always cheery and offering you a cup of tea while you wait? I don't really care about that. They are busy people trying to make a living the hard way with a skill that's been in their family for generations.
I want great work at a fair price and that's what I consistently

AMAZING experience. Highly recommend Cathy to any of my friends, family, and others interested in tailor work. I had my senior formal dress from high school altered for my senior college formal and was incredibly impressed by her work. Cathy is reliable, professional, and knowledgeable with many years of experience. I will absolutely return for future alterations. Thank you!

Poor quality, worse service.
Dropped off three coats to be repaired and was told they would be ready by the following Tuesday. Arrived Tuesday afternoon and one item was completed, one was incomplete (but returned to me as though it were finished), and the third was 'still at the cleaners'.
When I came back for the third coat, it had been shoddily repaired (the new stitching was uneven and poorly finished) and I had to take it back in to get the work redone. They blamed their own destruction of part of the jacket's lining on the cleaners (who they picked and who also did a poor

I have been a long time customer of Hage and would highly recommend them for all your tailoring needs. As a family-run business they have consistently worked very hard and have done excellent work on all my clothes, and their turn-around is quite fast. From formal gowns, to skirts, to pants and jackets, they have always done a great job. I find their prices fair and their work professional. I am a very happy customer! Linda Pope, Ithaca, NY

My wedding is just under a year away, but I wanted to make sure that my dress was ready to go. After calling around, I was barked at by other tailors who told me to "call back in May!". However, Hage Tailor brought me in and made a point of working on my dress in a timely fashion. The dress was my mother's, but I needed it to be let out a bit. There was no fabric to be let out! Hage made it happen with a few pieces of matching material. Now I get to wear my mom's dress next June! The job was done beautifully and for a reasonable price. I think the crew at Hage deserves

I brought a bridesmaid dress to this shop about a week ago for a hem. The dress was a simple two-layer floor length gown made of a flowing chiffon fabric. I came in for a fitting and the lady marked the dress to be hemmed about 1 1/2 inches. She handed me the estimate price for the hem and the time I should return for pick-up. I left without questioning the price because the paper read $20 total for the hem, which seemed reasonably normal. When I returned a few days later to pick up the gown, the women who did the alterations was not in the shop. I told the women my name and the type of dress I

I'll tell you right away this place is great. If you need more proof, check Yelp's filtered reviews. I tried a few tailors/alterers in Ithaca and none wowed me, until I met Cathy. She's going to be direct with you about what can and can't be done and how long it's going to take, but she and her family at Hage Tailor will follow through with their promises and make you happy at a good price. Now I've had three suits and six jackets fitted -- some in need of serious alterations -- and I regularly get compliments on how well they fit. I prefer a bit of a shorter cut on
