Services
Academics and research are an integral part of Upstate Orthopedics. Our practice, in conjunction with the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Upstate Medical University, has trained many of the orthopedic surgeons practicing throughout Central New York today.
Each year, we compete with medical schools around the nation to attract and recruit five orthopedic residents and two fellows (hand and spine) to Syracuse to complete their training at Upstate Orthopedics (SUNY Upstate Medical University).We also recruit additional faculty each year to further our clinical, teaching, and research goals.

The goal of our Hand Fellowship Program is to train the Fellow in all aspects of hand surgery. The applicant must have completed an approved residency in orthopaedic or plastic surgery. The purpose is to help the Fellow develop an understanding of surgical and medical management of musculoskeletal problems of the entire upper extremity.
To develop the physician's knowledge and surgical techniques for treating diseases of the spine. To provide experience in conducting appropriate research in the laboratory and/or clinical setting. To demonstrate an ability to transmit information to other professionals through education and dissemination of research results.

This is our second visit we have had to make to Upstate Orthopedics for our child. The first visit was okay- nothing impressive or terrible.
Our second time here has been an absolute joke.
We were told by the hospital to wait about a week to schedule with Sullivan. We intended to do just that until his Secretary Nancy called demanding we come in the next day because she "personally received an Email from him" that indicated he wanted to check on our child. She was nothing but condescending over the phone if you asked her questions. She implied it would be a quick visit and stated if we got there

Please dont go here there very rude and they dont want to help it a hit or miss u may get get a decent greeting and help from x-ray department i called and talk to a nurse really not for sure of her title Melissa was her name she is in Matt Burnett office she talk to me if I was not human when I left off the phone I felt horrible and the pain that iam in it made it worse please people have some compassion

I’m shocked to see so many 1 star reviews. My 2 kids and I have been coming here for over a decade and have never had an issue. Dr Iannolo did a wonderful job putting me back together after a head on car accident; nearly 10 years later and I have no pain or limitations related to my trauma surgeries. My son was seen just related to minor childhood injuries, I have no complaints. Today my daughter was seen by Dr. Albanese. What a gem he is! Fantastic bedside manner, thorough examination, and communicated my daughter’s condition extremely clearly. The nurses and staff seem very caring and time

I'm sure the surgeons and doctor are fine. If you can get if contact with them. The secretary are worst I have seen. They don't follow up with calls, they don't sent prescription out in a timely manner, just shuffle you around if you have questions your doctors, and overall not helpful. If can your looking for help go to another doctor.

Good experience with walk in. Was a little skeptical about seeking care here due to low ratings but other urgent care had really long wait times. Friendly care. A negative is they don't answer the phone; I tried calling multiple times over a full day and no one answered the phone. Fits in nicely with other reviewers who stated lack of responsiveness, so reconsider going here if getting a timely response is important to you.

0 stars - About a year ago we had an appointment for our son, we called (multiple times) no answer, we left a message we weren’t able to make it provided name and number to return phone call to reschedule. We also tried again a couple days after nothing.. a year later no call back (not like we’d go to them anyways if they did) I’m sure there are better care options out there!

Dr Emil Azer wrenched my knee sideways beyond what it could absorb and caused permanent injury in the soft tissue around my knee basically handicapping me. He had no reason to do this as he had a negative mri and x Ray in front of him. In deceit he did not include his action on his medical report. Prior to this his conduct toward me was rude and non caring. Upon complaints to their patient relations they used their lawyers to try to keep me quiet and simply go away.

Horrible horrible people skills from the time they answer the phone to the time you are seen. It's rush rush rush insurance cards! Next! Sad that people are treated as if money is the patients value. And I've seen nurses and doctors alike at this location. Upstate has dominated the medical field in most of syracuse and you must travel much further to experience better treatment and second options and or opinions depending on your insurance!! When did the human race become so disgusting!! God help us all!!

My whole family have been going here for years,especially my wife. This whole facility has been by far one of the absolute best! They are vary experienced in every field they work in always professional they get the job done and done right. Over the past few years my wife alone has had to have a full hip replacement and 2 back surgeries just to name a few and I can tell.you first hand jthey did a great job. I recommend this place to everyone I talk to. They've been great with every member of my family..thank you upstate orthopedics
