A steadily increasing part of my work is as a professional videographer and editor. I've filmed and edited demos and short documentaries for many of the performing arts groups I photograph, as well as other clients. I've also created numerous animations for projected scenery during live performances.
Opera combines glorious music, beautiful, often extravagant costumes and sets, and singing. What singing! Until you have been to a live performance by an opera singer, you can't really comprehend the feats a human voice is capable of. These vocal magicians have to fill a theater and be heard over an orchestra, without the benefit of a microphone.
Theater is much different from movies and television, even though all three do the same thing-tell a story. It is more of a physical experience, and commands the audience's attention more completely. The fact that you are in the same room with the actors lends an immediacy and presence that you can't get from film or television.
It's finally here after a month of intense creativity, and it will knock you out! The 2015 residency at the Lobero Theatre of Adam Barruch Dance culminates in a world premiere - 2 shows, Sept 25 & 26 @ the Lobero theatre. State Street Ballet's "Secret Garden" - A full-lenght ballet choreographed and directed by Josie Walsh with original score by Paul Rivera Jr. and multi-media scenic design by David Bazemore. Set during the recent Arab Spring and featured AK47s, a jeep and waterboarding, this bold new production is a whole new take on the Verdi classic.
