BETHEL CENTER FOR PSYCHOTHERAPY has been serving the people of Wheaton and surrounding communities since 1997. Founded by Dr. Betty A. Riley to provide psychological services to those who are hurting or struggling through various issues and phases of life, Bethel Center provides caring and sensitive therapy for a wide variety of problems and disorders.
Therapy is available for adults, children, couples, senior adults, and some adolescents. Located in the heart of downtown Wheaton, Bethel Center is conveniently reached by auto or train. There is also a Pace bus (#711) that goes by the building. We are three blocks from the downtown Wheaton Metra station.

Services
The therapists and counselors at Bethel Center are well-trained to provide psychotherapy based on solid psychological theory. They are experienced and regularly keep up with advances in the field by attending seminars. D., is the founder and clinical director of Bethel Center. She is trained to deal with a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, ADHD, anger management, relationship issues, and many more.
The ability to learn from past experience and to make changes in your future actions because of what you learned. The ability to not let yourself be totally controlled by your emotions, but for you to be able to think appropriately about the situation and therefore to act appropriately. Having a few people whom you trust and with whom you can be open and talk about the things that bother you.
2. Anxiety takes many forms. It can be a generalized concern and worry about many things in life. It can be a specific, intense fear of some particular thing (dogs, spiders, flying, etc., otherwise known as a phobia). Some individuals avoid social situations because of intense anxiety. It can be rumination-turning things over and over in your mind to be prepared for any contingency that might arise.
People often wonder where the dividing line is between having an occasional "blue" day and depression, or between normal butterflies and anxiety. Triggers for emotional or psychological reactions include an upsetting life event (losing a job, divorce, death of someone close to you, becoming seriously ill), life transitions (going to college, getting married, becoming a parent, the "empty nest, " retirement, to name a few).
There are several options available to help you cover the cost of your counseling or psychotherapy. Payment of the full fee, or the relevant copay, is expected at the time of each session. However, the counselors at Bethel Center want to work with you on this matter so feel free to discuss it with your therapist.
