Tarheel Powder Coating was started in July of 2012 and was formerly known as SmatTek coating. Operations and customers have since been fully transitioned and expanded as Tarheel Powder Coating with no service interruption and enhanced customer support thru more convenient hours of operation. We are small and we are "hungry" / eager to earn your business, albeit a single item, overflow from you primary coater, or a re-occurring requirement.

Powder coating provides environmental advantages with top-notch professional coating performance at a cost that can help increase the look and value of your parts. We now have a 8' wide x 9' tall x 16' deep walk-thru media blast booth (6' entry).
Powder coating is the term used to describe a unique surface coating process. This process is quite different from painting with conventional wet paint, in that it requires curing which provides a superior quality and more durable finish at a lower cost with fewer safety and environmental issues. Powder coated parts are generally more resistant to scuffing and marring, so handling-related damage to the finish is reduced.
