After growing up in South Florida, Dr. Michael Abufaris graduated from FTU (now UCF) with a B.S. degree in Mathematics and Science. He attended Emory University School of Dentistry for both his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and specialty training in Periodontology/Dental Implants.

With emphasis on grafting and regenerative procedures to replace problem tissue with healthy tissue, Dr. Abufaris blends the latest treatment ideas with extensive knowledge and years of professional experience.His chairside manner and attention to detail motivates him to provide ideal and realistic treatment for each and every patient.

At your first appointment, a careful, gentle and complete periodontal examination including a visual cancer screening exam will be done. If no current x-rays are available from your general dentist, full mouth x-rays will be taken during this appointment. Your condition will be diagnosed, and then all treatment options, including fees will be discussed with you.

The fees we charge for dental services are the same for every patient insured or not. A given insurance policy, however, is based on a fixed fee schedule "usual and customary" that may have nothing to do with the real world. Dentistry has changed very quickly, insurance fees schedules have not. After all, insurance companies are profitable businesses, not dental benefactors.

A highly predictable procedure results in a stable healthy band of attached tissue around the tooth. When recession of the gingiva occurs, the body loses a natural defense against both bacterial penetration and trauma. This can eventually lead to an inadequate amount of attached gingiva, increasing the risk for gum disease and eventual tooth loss.
