In the year 1868, in Richmond, Virginia, a Black free man purchased lumber and made a baby casket. His name was Henry Cooke. This he placed in front of his building on 16th and Broad Street. His skills were in cabinet and furniture making. More importantly, this began the Cooke family in the business of funeral service.
Today, many families are choosing cremation as a dignified form of final disposition. One reason: it can be a very economical and low-cost way to honor your loved one who has passed away. Here at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel & Crematory, we specialize in keeping the cost of cremation reasonable and suited to your family's budget and just as with traditional burial, you may choose to have a memorial service, or other type of gathering or visitation.

My great grandmother recently passed and the staff at Cooke Bros has been so kind and helpful to my family at this time. I am especially impressed with Mr. Kenny Hargrove Jr. He was very helpful with the programs and my oh my he had my great grandmother looking good. She passed at 94 and she looks at least 20 years younger than she did when we last saw her alive. He has truly done amazing work. She looks so beautiful. I definitely recommend this establishment for any of your funeral needs.

Cooke brothers has always done my family and friends right and my grandma was no exception. Their treatment and care for her remains were the best. I’m thankful for Ms Carolyn and the staff. Especially thankful for Kenny Hargrove. He took special care in making my grandmother look amazing. Also to the brother we dealt with the all the arrangements. I forgot his name but he was patient with us and we appreciate him as well.

My grandmother passed away on 12/1/2021. She had been extremely sick and was 94 years old. Her sickness had taken a toll and her body showed every bit of the pain she was going through. From the moment we contacted Cooke brothers they were compassionate, caring, and professional. We worked with Robert and he went above and beyond to make sure that our family was taken care of and made sure that we understood everything. Kenny worked on my grandmother's body and he did a PHENOMENAL job. My grandmother didn't look like she had been sick a day in her life. She looked as good as she did 40 years ago

I recently used the professional services at Cooke Bros. Funeral Home for my aunt’s home going. I recommend them without hesitation due to the caring and professionalism I was shown throughout.
