Principle Charlie Jeannet offers a unique skill set and understanding of code enforcement and construction techniques. An Alaskan resident for over 30 years, Charlie is experienced in both new and existing construction and inspection techniques throughout interior Alaska.
His former position with the City of Fairbanks Building Department as a structural inspector for 20 years included extensive experience in both residential and commercial projects, as well as plan reviews and involvement in the code adoption and amendment process extending back several decades.

North Star Engineering and Inspection offers a wide variety of options for your needs. We are licensed to perform ICC (formerly ICBO) inspections of new residential construction, as well as home inspections for buyers of existing homes. We also perform construction inspection for local government on occasion, as well as "Special Inspection" as required in the International Building Code for important structural components.

The State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) requires all septic systems to be installed in compliance with DEC standards and regulations. I hired Mr. Jeannet to inspect a house we were considering buying. He wished for both me and the seller to be there, and I am glad that he did, I learned a lot from him and from the seller. Charlie was thorough and it was a great educational experience as well. He made sure I knew how to use and service the electrical, plumbing and mechanical units in the house. He tromped through the deep snow at -30 to inspect what he could of the outside. He shared ideas for bringing items into compliance and he also did it with enthusiasm, respect and professionalism. Recently had North Star Engineering & Inspection do an engineer's report on a home we were considering buying. We received immediate response to our phone call and were able set up an appointment, have the home inspected and receive the report in about a week's time. Hello everyone I want to say how I am absolutely satisfied 110% with Charlie's service and expertise on my home inspection. He was very knowledgeable but also very picky and thorough with every little thing as if it was himself who was buying the house, he was prepared and ready to uncover the cobwebs hiding in the corners of this home. Charlie is a great home inspector! He has inspected properties for me on multiple occasions, not only in the purchase of a rental property and a new home but also for the engineer's inspections while building a duplex.
