Forks Of Cheat Winery
Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of north central West Virginia, Forks of Cheat Winery produces a wide variety of prize winning wines with an old world tradition. For over twenty years Forks of Cheat Winery has become known as a premium wine production facility, producing more than 20,000 gallons of fine wines annually.

Who would have thought that getting caught stealing grapes would lead Jerry Deal to ownership of one of West Virginia's foremost wineries? Well, that's just what happened! When a neighbor chastised Jerry for eating grapes from her vines, he planted his own. After several years of home wine making, recognition in amateur competitions, and the support of his friends, Jerry decided to turn his hobby into a business.

Great selection of sweeter wines and some dryer reds. The Red Blend was pretty good. They also have a selection of distilled spirits made on the premises. Free wine tastings but no on-ground tours of the process. Great views from the patio. You can grab a bottle of wine, some pre packaged snacks and enjoy the mountain views. Very personable staff and owners. Great place for a mid afternoon break.

This was a planned stop during a few days' stay on Morgantown. Walked in... no other customers there, and the place was small. We greeted the man working there; he was putting wine onto display case. We looked around, he nearly ran into us with boxes a couple times. He never said another word to us... "How are you doing?" or "Would you like a tasting?" We really wanted to try the wine but he was so rude we decided to leave, and he never acknowledged our leaving, either. Horrible service.

Killing time while waiting for children taking ACT exam. Lol. Tried 4 wines--the bad cat blush (semi-sweet but I would say it should be classified as sweet), blush (dry, not my cup of tea), cherry (interesting), Van Buren red (sweet, decided to get this one to make sangria!). Cute little place. Free tasting of 4 wines of your choice.

My friend and I went to Forks of Cheat Winery for a spontaneous road trip. The man who was working, Bob, was phenomenal. He was so accommodating and kind. We are looking forward to going back because of him!

Really pleasant people, abiding by social distancing safety, and overall a cute shop. Unfortunately tastings aren't available right now due to COVID, so we bought some bottles to take home. Bonus: super sweet and friendly shop cats!

We arrived when they opened on a Monday afternoon. The staff was wearing masks due to the pandemic which was greatly appreciated. My husband and I sampled a few different wines before we decided on the redbud (semi-sweet). We enjoyed the wine on the outside deck.

I would go to 3.5 stars if possible, but not quite a 4. I had been checking their facebook page leading up to our trip to Morgantown. They were closed due to Covid, but alluded to opening soon. Thankfully on day 2 of our trip they opened. After a nearby hike we headed over to the winery. First of all, the views are stunning. I wasn't expecting that. The pictures we took did not do it justice. That's worth the visit alone.

They have a cute shop but I didn't peruse long out of respect for social distancing. They were only doing wine by the bottle, so since my husband isn't a

We had a really fun time venturing from PA to Forks of Cheat Winery for the first time! We decided to take a short road trip on a whim and this was a gorgeous spot. Staff was friendly when we first arrived and gave us plenty of wines to taste. We were a little disappointed they completely ran out of their cab, but they said with shipment delays their trucks didn't arrive on time. The other wines we tried were all very good and they had a nice variety. The men enjoyed drinking the cider which I also enjoyed as well. As I read other reviews it looks as if they have moonshine and whisky which

A very cute shop hidden from the business of Morgantown. Unfortunately when I visited, the staff was less than helpful. I am not sure if they were concerned with my age but a simple solution would have been to see my ID. The short 5 minutes I spent in the shop I felt very uncomfortable as I was just being glared at and the staff seemed very reluctant to let me try any of the wines. This was my one place on my road trip I was very excited to visit and I was saddened by the overall experience.

This place is a hidden gem in West Virginia! The staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable. They have so many different wines to chose from which is perfect for every wine lover. When you arrive, you walk inside, and are immediately blown away by all the different wines they sell. Not only do they sell wine, but they also sell moonshine.
You do the wine tasting inside which is nice because it allows you to really get a taste of their wine and atmosphere. After you taste their wine and figure out which one you like, you can buy a bottle and sit outside. The seating outside will take your breath

The two guys working tonight took great care of my group. The patio overlooks the winery and is the perfect spot to enjoy a glass (or two) from their collection.

Small family own winery. Nice staff. Fast service. Not a whole lot of space to roam around. They have a inside area and a patio outside to sit and enjoy your wine. An extra deck area too. Mostly sweet wines.

They let us try their award winning moonshine--goes down very smoothly!

Being from northern Virginia, wineries are a weekend staple for myself and my fiancé and we recently decided to check out Forks of Cheat Winery.

I really hate giving reviews less than four stars, but there were a couple of disappointing aspects to our visit.

A few of the wines were delicious--the Sangiovese, as well as their semi-sweet red and semi-sweet white. Otherwise, the other wines on the menu just didn't live up to our expectations and tended to fall flat upon tasting. The menu also consisted mostly of very sweet, fruit wines which may be appealing to others, but not to us.

Nice little winery in Morgantown. The owner is really nice and was helpful while we I sampling different wines. Here they also distill their own spirits which you can sample. They don't sample or sell the spirits on Sunday. You can purchase a bottle or glass of wine to drink there where they have a small deck area.

I am a fan of sweet and semi-sweet wines so some of my favorites are the Bat Cat, Niagra, and Van Buren. Airmail Jones is my favorite semi-sweet. Of the fruit wines I particularly like the blackberry and strawberry. Most bottles are around $10. My husband really liked the Big

I read the other reviews and felt bad that they received bad service.
When I arrived, the staff was super friendly and answered all my questions about their product.
The wine tastings were free. I really like their semi-dry red wines and dry reds. It has a great taste and was smooth.
We were also able to try Apple Pie Moonshine. It was so delicious.
I ended up getting 3 bottles of wine and a bag of roasted coffee.
They were about to close and I wanted to drink a glass of wine out in the patio, the owner did not mind and told us we can stay as long as we want.
The patio has gorgeous
