Bob Coyle, an associate professor of Agriculture at Oregon State College (now Oregon State University), founded Oregon State College Federal Credit Union to serve the unmet financial needs of its members. Mr. Coyle ran the credit union from his desk in Snell Hall (now Ballard Extension Hall). In those early days, membership in the credit union was small.
The original membership charter restricted membership to employees of Oregon State College; selected state and federal employees affiliated with the college; and employees of the credit union, their immediate families and organizations. In those early days, if a member needed a loan, Mr. Coyle went from member to member, shoebox in hand, to pull together enough deposits to cover the request.

Services
Attendees learned about the credit union's 2020 achievements from the Chairman of the Board and the President/CEO, and to elect three directors to open positions on the Board of Directors. These member candidates will serve on your Board of Directors. Board members, elected by fellow members, determine the general direction of the credit union.
Oregon State Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that exists to serve our members. We provide the same types of financial products and services you would find at other financial institutions, but there are clear differences.
We are a full-service, community based and operated financial institution that provides a complete range of financial products and services, including investment, real estate and small business lending to our members with the convenience, ease, affordability and dependability that only a member-owned cooperative can offer.

Oregon State Credit Union has established a Compensation Policy to provide reasonable compensation for its Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee as allowed by Oregon law and the Credit Union's Bylaws. If you do not have electronic access, you may request a copy at any Oregon State Credit Union branch or call Oregon State Credit Union at 800-732-0173.
As a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative, Oregon State Credit Union is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by and from its membership to three year terms. The Board of Directors is the cornerstone of governance, providing strategic direction and monitoring risks and control systems.
Dedication to service goes beyond providing financial products and services. As a financial cooperative we take to heart the credit union principle, "Not for profit, not for charity, but for service." We believe it's our duty to be a good corporate citizen and give back to the many counties we serve in our field of membership.

Horrible customer service over the phone both english and spanish line. the 2 women we spoke to were very rude and discriminatory the way they spoke to us and did not want to help or listen so we ended up hanging up and going into the branch in west salem where they quickly took care of us and were nice about it.

OSCU bill pay says "delivered by," when it should say "electronically posts on." Cost me my 3% property tax discount. Also, their mortgage department is excruciatingly slow. Expect at least a 45 day close, and then they'll sell your good rate to Freddie Mac anyways. Might as well go right to the horses mouth for a better rate and faster close. Try Oregon Community Credit Union instead.

OSU credit union is freaking mask nazis! They refused to make a reasonable accommodation and meet me outside to do a notary which I’m supposed to get for free as a member there for 20 years! They lied & said the Albany branch near the mall did not made an exception in the past with me, which they did… i’m getting tempted to cancel all my accounts with them. They would not even listen to me when I said the stupid mandate (which is NOT a law!) requires them to make a reasonable accommodation.

I would never use this credit union for anything except a doorway for the homeless to sleep. They have taken double amount for every payment and then telling me there's no way for them to transfer it back to my account. 600.00 dollars onto of a 600 dollar payment. I waited on hold 3 separate times. They told me they would be able to transfer it… back no problem then when it came time to she said they can and literally hung up on me. Called back, waited on hold for 25 minutes to pretty much be told to bad. They took 600.00 freaking extra dollars out of my account. That would be devastating

Can’t pay my loan off online or by phone, only way to pay off loan is to send them a check or go into a branch. They have no problem taking monthly payments electronically but when it’s time for the interest to stop they won’t allow you to pay off your loan. It’s 2021 and I can’t pay off the remaining balance in full through the web or via phone.

OSCU is keeping their staff pay low enough that there is CONSTANTLY someone training, taking up the time of knowledgeable staff daily. I always see new staff training when I go here, and they don't stay employed that long. That means customers are waiting around for staff to be freed up. And it's not like the workers or managers in the windowed offices pitch in to come out and offer to help if you're waiting long for the cubicled "subordinates". I tried to go in at a slower time and it was double the traffic. Just up the employee pay by a dollar or two, inspire staff to stay, and cut out all the

Call center is located outside of Oregon. When trying to settle the estate of my deceased father, "Jennifer" at the call center, contacted through the only number listed to contact OSCU, was rude and condescending. She directed me to a branch. would only offer locations if I had a zip code, was not familiar with the locations and when I asked her… if she could tell me in what cities OSCU had branches she told me she was looking online just like anybody could. Wow! I will be going to a branch location with the appropriate documents and will never open an account with this credit union. I

I never write reviews but I have been so unhappy with my experience at Oregon State Credit Union that I feel compelled to write one. I had fraud charges on my account and it was handled extremely poorly. I talked with seven different people and couldn't get any straight answers. I would leave messages and receive no calls back. I was under the impression that the claim had been started, but found out days later it never had been. If I wouldn't have been so proactive about calling and trying to get some answers, I don't think I ever would've been reimbursed for the charges. I am now still waiting

I was impressed with the service I received from Marcos A-C. He was outstanding with returning my calls, processed my loan request, provided detailed information and it was all done in such short period of time as if I was the only customer there! I'm very satisfied with the service I received, will definitely recommend to others and for sure will be their regular customer going forward!

After being a member since the early 2000's I am going to have look for a better financial institution. something as simple as my daughter refinancing her car has become a major issue. OSCU cannot seem to get the previous lender paid off. They claim that they sent payment previous lender hasn't recieved it after 3 months and yet OSCU isnt helping… resolve the issue meanwhile my daughter has had to spend her college funds to make extra payments to the previous lender to catch the loan up. Both my wife and daughter keep getting the run around from OSCU I am disgusted with the horrible downturn

I have been a member of this credit union for many years. The team always goes above and beyond to help me with all of my financial needs. Kori has been great in assisting me over the years with making the best choices for any type of loan that I may have needed. Whether it be for for a car, personal loan, credit card, line of credit, etc. Years ago, I went to a bank and it was not nearly the same type of service that this credit union offers. It is definitely more personal and I feel like they really do want to help you in a way that serves you, the member best! Thank you!

Not having a phone number to contact the branch directly is just poor business. It shows you don’t care about actually helping the customer. Some days I just want to call to see if your lobby is open, or if your card printing machine is working. Instead of being able to easily talk to someone, I have to wait in hold with customer service for a half hour just to answer my simple question. This bank is the absolute worst banking experience I’ve ever had the displeasure of going through.

I used to have a car loan here, and my experience was totally fine (basically all interactions were over the phone, with HQ in Corvallis). I paid off the car loan after a year or so, and thought--hey, these guys are cool, I will open a credit card here. The interest rate I got was awesome, so I was pretty happy.
Since then, I've gone inside this branch a couple of times to pay my bill in person, and every time I leave disappointed with how rudely I am treated. The staff all seems annoyed to have to help anyone. No thanks.
