Aloha Surgery is the only program in Hawaii with regular support groups on Oahu and the outer islands. Aloha Surgery also offers weight loss supplements for purchase directly in office. Dr. Fowler is board-certified and a Fellow (FACS) by the American College of Surgeons and a fellow (FASMBS) by the American society for metabolic and bariatric surgery. Dr. Fowler came to Hawaii in 2004 after completing his surgical training in Los Angeles. In 2005, in cooperation with Castle Medical Center, the Surgical Weight Loss Institute was founded.
Designated Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) is a new way of performing surgical procedures. Surgeons commonly make multiple small cuts on the abdominal wall to pass cameras and instruments for performing a laparoscopic operation.
The vertical sleeve gastrectomy, also known as the gastric sleeve. The surgeon removes about 80% of your stomach, and the patient is left with a narrow tube-shaped stomach. This procedure is considered a metabolic operation, where it improves your bodies gut signaling physiology. This procedure was initially used as the first of two operations for treating patients with very high BMI's.
The Single Anastomosis Duodenal Switch has several names. It is a modification of the standard Duodenal Switch operation. The main difference with this procedure is that a 'loop' of intestine is attached to the duodenum instead of a separate limb of intestine. This avoids the need of creating two bowel connections, hence the name "Single Anastomosis".

I can't say enough about Dr. Fowler and his team! I felt comfortable the entire process. His team really cares about your future. Communication was great! He and his team are available for any questions or concerns any time of day. They are quick to respond to an email or phone call. I had the sleeve gastrectomy and am so happy I chose to fly to Oahu and have Dr. Fowler do it! Castle Medical is an amazing hospital as well. I felt as though I was in good hands the whole time!

I had 7 doctors lined up for consultations on bbls. Dr Fowler was the fourth. The previous drs were not right for me. They focused on what they thought was "beautiful" rather than what i think is beautiful. I showed dr Fowler my wish pics and he said it was mainly doable and showed me all the fat he could harvest in order to make my dreams come true (not much but i already knew that). Dr Fowler was very thorough and is board certified and also has a board certified anesthesiologist which is important.

Just went to today for my 3 year follow up post -op appointment. Megan is always friendly as soon as you walk in the door. Wait was not long at all. Dr, Fowler makes me feel like a person and not another number. He's genuine and easy to talk to. He always asks if I've have any concerns. Great appointment today and I look forward to seeing them next year!!

Very clean and cozy office. Dr. Fowler is kind and knows his stuff. I got a lot of information and I get the impression that Dr. Fowler cares and we are more than a number to him.
I'm very happy with my initial appointment and excited to continue his jousting with him and his practice.
The office is a little hard to find but Megan, the receptionist was very helpful when I called. They also provide quarters for street parking.

Dr. Fowler is extremely knowledgeable and has a terrific bedside manner. He instills confidence in his patients, and presents all the pros and cons in a straightforward way. I am grateful for his skilled care and don't hesitate to recommend him at all.

I had the RNY gastric bypass back in October 2016 with Dr Fowler and the surgery went perfectly. The whole team has been amazing, from the dietitian to the exercise coach to the office staff at Aloha Surgery. I love the multidisciplinary approach that Castle Medical Center and Dr Fowler use, if I have questions about my diet or what I can and can't eat the dietician is just a phone call away. Dr Fowler also tells us to page him day or night if we need to. Definitely glad I chose Dr Fowler and his amazing team!

Dr Fowler is a BARIATRICS Doctor. He has big shoes to fill. Dr. Cywes was tough as nails but he helped me be accountable to what mattered most...ME!

Dr Fowler and Megan are amazing!! I went in for Lipo of the tummy area yesterday. Obviously I cannot tell results yet due to swelling and these type of procedures take time to heal so I will update those results when I can. My 5 star review is on my whole experience to this point......the consult, communication and actual procedure were AMAZING! Dr fowler is genuine and you can tell he really cares about his patients. He made me feel comfortable at all times, most importantly during the procedure. Today I am up and walking just fine. Minimal pain and throughly pleased I chose Dr Fowler for this

My wife had her WLS done by Dr. Fowler and his team. WLS is a life-changing process and one of the most important parts of that change is a steady stream of quality vitamin supplements. Aloha Surgery has their own in-house brand and offers them at a reasonable rate even when they're not running any of a number of special deals to help patients keep a healthy supply. Dr. Fowler has literally saved my life! At 23 yrs old I weighed a whopping 379lbs! Yikes! I initially went to him in 2007 but at the time the nurse that worked for him was horrible and advised me to lose weight because otherwise they couldn't perform the surgery. I had lost all hope and thought she was so rude! Even after losing 15 lbs on my own she still quote told me I'm too "big"!
Fast fwd a few months and they fired that lady and gained a new coordinator who was so sweet. Plus with more patient credit, Dr. Fowler's prerequisites changed to open up to other patients
