Research-based & child-centered approach to educating the whole child & nurturing their interests. Meaningful and immersive learning experiences that develop a foundation for a lifetime of learning success. Cobb Childcare and Preschool is an emergent program and responds to each child's interests. Our practice is open-ended and self-directed, depending on teacher initiative and intrinsic motivation, lending itself to a play-based environment.
An emergent approach emerges from the children, but not only from the children. Our curriculum emerges from the play of children and the play of teachers and is both rigorous and authentically child-led. Learn how our program for toddlers supports their newfound independence, language and social skills!

Services
In our infant classrooms, we support them developing as they wish, when they wish without interference. In our toddler classrooms, we observe what things they bring into the classroom or choose to play with in their environment, and we help them to go farther and deeper with those explorations.
In our preschool classrooms, we observe and listen to their expressed interests and support them in their gathering of information and other resources to fuel their in-depth explorations and comprehensive projects. In Pre-K, children are encouraged to to communicate their thoughts and record their ideas.

An emergent approach involves the whole child, meaning all realms of development and learning; cognitive, social, emotional, and physical. What does that mean in practice? In practice, we provide a wide variety of resources in support of a child's emerging interests. We use observation to guide as we learn alongside the children.
Cobb Childcare & Preschool is always seeking applications for creative, hands-on, and skilled classroom teachers who want to work in an emergent, child-centered environment. Cobb teachers have a deep commitment to the well-being of children, and they take joy in spending full days in the company of exuberant young people.
The Cobb Childcare & Preschool Parent Group is an impressive group of parents who encourages every parent to get involved throughout the year by volunteering. The purpose of the parent group is to enhance and support the early education experience at Cobb, nurturing a direct connection between school and home by encouraging parent involvement, and improving the environment and facilities at Cobb through volunteer and financial support.
At Cobb Childcare & Preschool, we know that communication is an essential component of the school experience for families. We challenge ourselves to exceed your expectations by continuously communicating your child's experience with us. Teachers use documentation panels outside each classroom to provide visual evidence of the learning process.

They forgot that my son was outside and left him out there alone. No one knew where he was and no one knew how long he had been out there for. No one even seemed to notice my child was missing until a teacher grew concerned as well (not my sons teacher mind you).
She found him outside, alone and crying. He will not be returning to Cobb Street and I encourage people to really think about sending their kids there. They do not have security cameras outside, the upper area play yard for older kids is never closed off and there are concrete stairs he could have gone up and gotten seriously hurt and

Cobb offers such a rich, hands on, integrated learning experience that embraces the whole child. My 2nd grade daughter is challenged and her curiosity is encouraged. Communication from the school is frequent, honest and straightforward. The tuition is money well spent and once we made the decision to switch to Cobb we have never looked back. We love Cobb!

Leaving 3 stars for now... The director April is amazing and very helpful but I've had some concerns with some of the staff. I won't name drop but I noticed at least 3 teachers that don't seem to LOVE kids. I love kids and so I know what it looks like when you're watching kids and you're doing it out of neccesity or love for children. There are 2 teachers that I really adore and they are sweet and love kids as it shows but one of them just left :( I hope she is replaced with someone great. She always gave me updated on Ava and made sure to comfort her with her tough first

Our three kids continue to have a wonderful experience at Cobb Children's Learning Center. They are eager to start in the morning, and often want to stay and continue play at pickup time. The Teachers are kind, attentive and do a great job with kids' learning, play and behavior.
As working parents we particularly appreciate the always-available early start times, and excellent, reliable coverage throughout the calendar year. Highly recommended.

A little gem in Douglas County... the teachers are so caring and keep the kids challenged with hands-on projects and adventures. We have kids in 3rd grade & kindergarten and LOVE that their class sizes are small enough for the teacher to really get to know each child. We were nervous about switching from public to private school, but now feel Cobb was a great decision.

A special educational community that really sees my kids for their gifts and growth areas and nutures them in specific and impactful ways. Our boys actually look forward to school; a parent's dream! We love the school's commitment to the arts, Spanish language, science, technology and community, in addition to the fundamentals. We have also connected with so many other like-minded families who care deeply about rigorous, creative and values based education.
So excited to have Bill Alsdurf and Meredith Bliss at the helm!

Wonderful place for children! The school is pre k through 8th grade. The classrooms provide a supportive family like environment. Students are engaged in music, art, drama, computers and Spanish classes throughout the entire school year. Offsite PE is another great benefit of this school. Additionally the staff create many hands on learning experiences for kids with many field great field trips. Small class sizes too!!

When my 1 year old attended Cobb Street in 2013 I caught the woman in charge of his room (Bonnie) abusing him and leaving the children unattended in the room all by themselves. I noticed a bruise on my baby after the first day and I asked Bonnie about it and she lied and said it could have happened while he was sleeping. REALLY?? The day I caught her, she was grabbing him in the same spot that I found bruises. On top of that she lied and told me he was eating his food and when I looked in his lunch box he hadn't eaten anything. Was she planning to throw it away before I saw it?? I reported
