Pretty remote little hole in the wall cafe that is a diamond in the rough for sure. Heron and El Vado lakes up in northern New Mexico were extremely popular fishing destinations until many years of drought finally took their toll on the lakes and the tourism. The Stone House Lodge Cafe is located in a small lake community that is in between both lakes and you can tell time has taken its toll on the buildings but you can tell it was once a booming place to be. Despite the drop in tourism and business, the cafe is still open and it is indeed a treat. Typical breakfast items are all on the menu, but

We had dinner here today. I had the roast beef dinner, my wife had a burger with swiss and mushrooms. The little cafe serves organic beef from a local ranch and the quality of the meal showed how good the beef really is. The atmosphere is a typical resort style connected to the grocery/fishing supply store. Service was quick and good. We would certainly return to this cafe.
