When I approached benetrends financial I was in a dire situation. I had not submitted the proper paperwork to the IRS for the 401K PSP for the last three years. It didn't matter that in 2020 the IRS was shut down like everyone else. The IRS letter outlined many severe financial penalties waiting me unless I addressed this situation within the next 30-60 days. This was a totally unrealistic time frame for a small business with 15 employees.
I called many accountants and TPA and most would not touch the case or waited a retainer in the thousands. Not benetrends financial! They reviewed my case and

Very nice way to open a new business. We didn't understand the process and so we had a lot of questions throughout the process. They were always good to promptly respond and never made us feel bad about needing the baby steps. I researched doing a ROBS on and off for many months and most of the articles I found recommended Guidant Financial (now that I have purchased an online business and understand SEO better I realize that most of those articles were not legitimate recommendations). I also had a few business brokers recommend them as well but each time I talked
to them (3+ occasions) their sales people were rude and not very helpful.
Then I found Benetrends, and they were great to deal with (Chelsea D, in particular was awesome). It was like a breath of fresh air compared to Guidant so I decided to move forward

Benetrends is really good at getting you into the plan. They were very helpful and I feel the fees were fair. The reason for me giving such a low rating is for the exit plan. My business closed and I'm having a hard time getting out. They want you to pay to get out and after you pay they only give a short amount of time to get all your paperwork in.
I of coarse didn't get it done and felt like I wasn't getting the help I needed, nothing like when I was signing up. So hopefully you can stay in business and not have this problem.

I am very frustrated with Benetrends Financial. Mainly due to the ongoing monthly fee of $130/ month that the sales person neglected to mention when I signed up. Maybe it's in the fine print somewhere of some document that I signed, but this is a drain on my small business. I've mentioned it to my representative, but she just replies with a list of the services they provide for this fee, which amounts to preparing some documentation once a year to ensure your IRS compliance. I don't mind paying a fee for some of these services, but I feel duped regarding the monthly fee and there

I utilized Benetrends to finance my business with my 401K. They helped me get started and I paid the 5K fee to start and continued to pay the $120 per month and then canceled. They continue to send me $120 per month fees for doing nothing as I have received all my funding and there is nothing left for them to do. I was pleased to get the help up front but I did not sign up for a lifetime monthly bill. Be very careful as they are proving to be in ethical in the end.

Their whole gig is to hook you into an expensive service to start your business, collect fees monthly and then charge you a fortune to exit. They look slick when you start but after that the service is deplorable and you do most of the work by giving them all the information to fill out the 5500 forms. There are better cheaper ways to do a ROBS. Dont go with Benetrends - take it from me a person who is trying to shut down their service
