Roots Naturopathic Medicine
Seattle-based naturopathic primary care with specialties in women's health/fertility, mood health, and LGBTQ health and fertility. Providing contraception, hormonal support for menopause, PMS support, fertility treatment, and annual exams for women. Treating depression, anxiety, insomnia and fatigue in an individualized way for every patient.

Helping patients to feel safe, supported, and well understood, using preferred name and gender pronouns, maintaining a non-judgmental environment for people no matter their sex, gender or lifestyle. I believe strongly that health comes in many sizes. I don't equate a high BMI with poor health, and will not ask to you to lose weight simply because your BMI is a certain number.

Before attending medical school, I spent several years as a health care community activist, spending time with Washington citizens who had insufficient access to decent medical care, and listening to their stories. As a Seattle area transplant from the East Coast, I'd never heard of Bastyr University before, in fact I hadn't known there was such a thing as Naturopathic medicine.
During your visit I will ask questions that may seem unrelated to the reason you are seeking treatment. For example, even though you may be coming to see me about headaches, I will ask you questions about your digestion, your skin, and other body systems. During your visit I urge you to share any unusual or specific symptoms you have.
Naturopathic medicine is uniquely poised to treat PCOS, as there a variety of treatments including herbal medicine and dietary changes that are highly effective for treating PCOS. As with other conditions, when necessary, I can prescribe medications to help treat PCOS as well. Fertility challenges are a growing issue as our environment and our lifestyles change over time.
Mood disorders include depression, anxiety, insomnia, and difficulty with focus, concentration or memory. These are some of the most common health concerns facing Americans today. Some of the most common causes of mood disorders are imbalances in neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, deficiencies of Iron, B vitamin or other nutrients, thyroid conditions, chronic pain syndromes, food allergies, and hormonal imbalances.
I don't make assumptions about your health and lifestyle based on appearance, sexual orientation or gender identity. I am a sex positive doctor, working with patients who identify as poly, kinky, or other identities. I affirm body positivity, and I practice based on a Health At Every Size philosophy.
