Services
In 1979, Dr. Jeff Danhauer started Hearing Consultants of California (HCC) as a vehicle to provide the community with superlative hearing healthcare. HCC provided a way for him to apply his academic, research, and publishing expertise to helping patients with hearing loss and their families.

He has been a professor at the University of California Santa Barbara, since 1978, and has served as chair of the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences for over the past decade.HCC was started partly based on the desire to give his research students an opportunity to obtain and collect data for a variety of research projects while also observing real-world clinical experience (see links to some example articles on the HCC website).
Cerumen, or earwax, can be removed from the ear canal so that it does not interfere with listening or comfort, especially for individuals who wear hearing aids. There are many steps to a hearing evaluation. If you suspect that you might need hearing aids, you will first need to have a hearing evaluation.
Hi, I'm Jeff Danhauer, and am very proud to say that I am Kim's husband and Tate's Dad. We enjoy our small family practice and helping people with their hearing needs.

My career has spanned over 40 years in the Audiology profession teaching university students at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels; servering as chair of the Speech and Hearing Sciences Department at UCSB for 15 years; conducting research and publishing over 180 articles; co-authoring several books; editing over 60 textbooks; presenting 100s of papers at professional meetings; being a reviewer for numerous scientific and clinical journals; and diagnosing and helping meet the rehabilitative needs of thousands of patients.

Showed up 5 minutes early. Waited 15 minutes. No one there. I phoned and left a voicemail indicating that I'd been there and asking if I'd made a mistake in my calendar, and that I'd come back at 9am just in case. I came back at 9am. They told me I'd missed my appointment. I said I was here. The staff admitted they'd been "10 minutes late." No real apology. Just a "too bad, come back in a month." I'm going elsewhere. You should too.

I'd been to three prior audiologists who tried to adjust my hearing aids so they'd work, but none were able to do so. Anne at Hearing Solutions was finally able to get my hearing aids to work properly. I learned that the other audiologists had forgotten to adjust the aids' volume and also had failed to conduct a test that Anne did. I am really indebted to Hearing Solutions for solving this long-time problem.

On 9/30/13 after months of fittings and refittings I purchased and paid $6000 for “invisible in the ear” hearing aids” Unfortunately they did not work any better than my older hearing aids. There were multiple times sending the hearing aids back after remolding, refitting, trips to the offices spending as much as one hour each.
The uncomfortable fittings, pain in my ears, whistling had continued for well over a year. One almost slid out of my ear while outdoors (too loose a fitting) Finally, after explaining to me that the fit was not correct in my ear causing whistling feedback; I was given
