Blue Star Motel
The Blue Star Motel is a boutique motel in the Saugatuck - Douglas area. Modern furnishings with minimalist design creates a welcoming, casual, and above all else, comfortable stay. Our patio rooms open up to a covered porch with patio chairs that overlook our sun deck, hot tub and fire pits. We are not a flashy motel. We do aim to elevate the motel experience with a friendly staff, exceptionally clean rooms, and modern amenities at a reasonable price.
Services
We offer a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment on the second floor of the Blue Star Motel. With beautiful views that overlook the property and spacious rooms. This is the perfect space for a family getaway or a friends vacay. The perfect king suite with a master king bedroom and a spacious living area with a sofa, table and 2 chairs and a flat screen cable tv.
Saugatuck Douglas and Fennville is full of recreation and relaxation, from top ten must see beaches to scenic dunes. With plenty of good coffee, delicious restaurants, and unique experiences - this is a magical place where people love to stay. The downtown areas of Saugatuck, Douglas, and Fennville offer plenty of window shopping, browsing and indulging.
Our rates are based on double occupancy (an additional child is fine). Our rooms can not sleep three adults. And please understand that our rooms are not massive, and we do not have a way to accommodate rollaways. No one likes to cancel their plans but we know sometime it has to happen. We try to have a policy that is flexible with our guests but understanding that cancelations may prevent other guests from canceling.
Blue Star Motel is similar to a good AirBNB. This means that while there are generally staff around, we are not a full service property. Our staff is a short text or call away. Though we don't have a lobby don't hesitate to reach out and let us know if you need anything during your stay. We have limited continental breakfast offerings of coffee, tea, yogurt, fruit, with a few hot and cold cereals.

Just wrapped up my 3 night stay. This place was way better than expected! Although it is a budget friendly motel it doesn't feel that way at all! It's newly rennovated and had nice attention to detail. Wifi was ok, a little slow. VERY close to the beach and down town about 5mins. Would recommend and stay again

Wow ! A little piece of Heaven , a hidden gem. We love Blue Star Motel, and would not stay anywhere else. Rooms are super clean, comfy beds, really nice shower, and all the amenities you could want. It has a beautiful personal back patio for each room, a huge fire pit, hot tub, decks and nature. If you are looking for a place to stay that is close to everything, but not on top of huge crowded area's, this is the place for you ! it is pet friendly too ! The staff, Rachel, Walt, Lahonda, and Rachel really take care of all of your needs. It feels like your right at home from the moment you get there

Check-in was super easy with everything being contactless and getting text instructions. The place was nice and clean, and the perfect stay for two. It’s walkable to plenty of local things nearby, including the beach. The bed, pillows, and linens were very nice, and everything was well taken care of. We didn’t use the back patio much, but there is plenty of nice space outside (including a hot tub) available for use. Overall it was a great stay, and we will definitely be coming back!

Place was okay. The ground keeper or possibly the owner was lurking often. At times it felt like he was scolding you as well. First time visiting this place.
Place was clean, not completely updated. Housekeepers were seen out and about in the mornings doing their jobs. They were very nice and acknowledged you with a good morning.
I been to worse places. I would of rated this one star higher if I felt comfortable enough to relax and enjoy my mini vacation.
I did enjoy the scenery in the back yard. It was a country feel and had two small fire pits with lounging chairs you could enjoy. Have to

I wanted to check out the accuracy of the previous rave reviews...and they are pretty much spot on. I give this 5 stars not for luxury but for providing an above average stay at a lower cost option for this tourist town. Check in was a breeze with a text with room # and entry code along with instructions. The room is a European style boutique room. Decorated in grays, and retro modern furnishings, the small space used well. The bed, pillows and linens are top notch. The grounds are nicely kept with several sitting areas for lounging. There is even a hot tub and beach towels are provided in each

Don't let the "motel" fool you. The Blue Star Motel is an amazing place to stay when you're in the Saugatuck area. The staff is incredibly responsive. The rooms are immaculate and newly remodeled. There's a large open area out back behind all the rooms with a sitting area, grill and hot tub during the spring/summer months. There's a convenience store right next door, so you can get anything you need to make your stay more comfortable (FlipFlop wine). We've been rained in, but between the large TV and spacious room, we still had an enjoyable stay. Dollar-for-dollar, when compared to all the other

We were there for Labor Day weekend! The room was small but extremely well remodeled and comfortable. Office was mobile and made check in and out easy. Was extremely close to The Dunes Resort pool and bar, which was nice. We'll definitely be back. Very clean.

Rooms are small but affordable and recently remodeled. Nice patio area out the backdoor. Close to everything in downtown Douglas. Nice sized mini fridge, microwave but could use a better coffee maker.

I think it's terrible that they charge people money when they have an emotional support animal. I'd stay away and find a place that's more progressive.... ‍‍

My wife and I stayed here two nights, with our dog. I like businesses such as this: modest, no pretense, fair deal, and what you see is what you get. Five stars.

It's a charming little motel affiliated with the Starlite up the road. This one is smaller than the other. It's minimalist. Nothing fancy. There is a frig and a microwave in the room, which is noteworthy. They give you potato chips and other snacks, gratis.

The room was clean. The proprietor was very nice. The location has a bit of street noise, but it is tolerable. It's exactly what we expected, which is to say it&apos

Was greeted upon arrival by one of the managers, super nice guy, saw we had a daughter and gave us an entire box of girl scout cookies! Who does that now a days? He gave us a tour of the place, very cozy rooms, perfect for our days spent in Holland. Just a short car trip away. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling in the area. I would have loved to take advantage of the two wooden lawn chairs in the back, but the weather wasn't the best. The hot tub also looked relaxing, but wasn't able to partake due to the rain. My only issue was when I took a some what hot shower in the

The Clean, comfortable, well cared for room was perfect for what I needed. The staff was extremely welcoming and had lots of advice on what to do/ see in the area. For the price and location, I'd recommend this place as a great home-base for getting out and seeing beautiful Saugatuck and Douglas.

Nothing special, over priced, zero customer service (in fact we checked ourselves in and never met a single employee of the motel). WE ARE NOT PICKY PEOPLE! I'm not sure how other reviewers got away with only spending $100 a night. Our stay in the Patio Room was over $400 for 2 nights.

My wife and I have driven past this place a couple times a year for the past 5 years and decided to give it a whirl. The photos look cute, the reviews are great, the location is perfect, etc. So we decided to book it for the whole weekend.

I called to confirm my reservation early Friday and told the innkeeper

This is the cutest place ever! The rooms have a modern update and chic style, but still the cozy feel of a bed and breakfast- but without the akward hallway conversation. Definitely coming back again.

I will echo Nancy's sentiment that I'm reticent to let the secret out on this place. But it's just too good.

We stayed at the Blue Star Motel a few days after Memorial Day Weekend. Despite the rather unpleasant weather for the majority of our stay, it was nothing short of wonderful. The rooms are definitely motel size (small!) but perfect for a couple - and besides, if you're in Saugatuck/Douglas, chances are you're not hanging around in your hotel room much.

Doors from the bathroom lead out to two beautiful adirondack chairs that overlook a cute patio, complete with

The room was great and the bed was the best part. The mattress and the sheets were so comfortable it made it hard to get out of bed the last day.

Also the owners and the manager Rusty were so helpful and friendly. Rusty made sure that we got our free breakfast coupon at the cafe next door. I would definitely stay here again and have recommended this motel to friends since my stay.
