We started Soundings in 1986 to offer a place where people that love Music and Film could come and listen, compare, and purchase fine quality Audio and Video equipment in real world surroundings, with real people. When building out a basement or doing a remodel that includes a home theater or media room, this question is often asked. Our answer is simply this: "The bigger, the more open, the better." First you have to understand how sound works. Sound is the pressurization and rarefaction of an air chamber and, ideally, sound wants to be created and then go off into infinity and die a natural death.
Did you know that most film and cinema producers, including George Lucas, feel that sound is the most important part of a movie? The entire experience just would not be the same without it. There can be as many as 400 individual sounds in a single frame of film and over 80 percent of these are added after the filming is done!
Now imagine having a music system that every time you turned it on made you want to sit and do nothing but close your eyes and listen. It isn't easyto create a music system like this, if it were every audio store would do it. At Soundings we call this "Hand Crafted Sound". All this isn't easy. While most any piece of stereo equipment that you plug into the wall will work exactly as it's designed to, the one thing that won't is your speakers.

My friend in college took me to Soundings one day and Rod introduced me to HiFi. My budget was limited as I was a poor college kid. He introduced me to the Meadowlark Kestrels, and they were amazing. I bought a pair a few months after I started my first job out of college. I am still a HiFi junkie 25 years later. Rod is a very enthusiastic HiFi professional and took the time to help educate a young/poor college kid like me. I know he did not make a ton of money from my purchase, but you would never be able to tell with the time and care he spent to help me.

Brad was very helpful in setting up our home theater and pointing me in the right direction to make decisions based on our space, lighting, and expected usage scenarios. I have updated both my Great Room stereo speakers/wiring and my Basement Home Theater projector and pre-amp with Soundings and they are simply the BEST! After using another well known Denver audio shop for years, I became frustrated with the service and unreliable advice of their staff, so I searched for an alternative as I was embarking on a remodel. Soundings was recommended by a contractor so I called them, met Jeff and others at their store location and in my home. At my request, they quickly put together a wiring proposal based upon a general system design, even though equipment decisions were yet to be made. They are the best!!! I needed to vamp up my stereo equipment and their recommendations were spot on. They were courteous and professional throughout. To begin with, I am not an "audiophile", but I love good music. I have been in hi-fi stores where I felt I knew more than the sales person and in contrast been in stores where I felt very inadequate because I did not know all the technical jargon that was tossed around. And I definitely appreciate excellent customer service. Well, I found my ideal establishment for quality a/v equipment with outstanding customer service/support at reasonable prices at Soundings! So far have upgraded my speakers and a sub, and am working on a plan to upgrade my integrated amp and home theater equipment

I am not one to give 5 stars but is have to give this place 5 stars even though they were not able to make the repairs I was hoping to have done on my turntable, they were as helpful as they could be. This location has excellent sound and video equipment. Being a very discerning person when it comes to music and video I can appreciate the equipment and knowledge of the personnel at Soundings Fine Audio.

I've been collecting music for 30+ years. Collecting music has never been more interesting. The amount of music that's become available is astonishing: out of print classical, digitized V discs, Bear Family country catalogs, cassette only remixes, regional small labels, unreleased material I thought I'd never hear, and many more.
I put together my first good system with a lot of research from periodicals like High Fidelity and Audio Magazine (clearly a long time ago). Since then I've replaced every piece, often more than once, either expanding or upgrading the system a little

These guys are great if you are a sound nerd and want a really high-end a/v setup. They setup integrated sound/TV in our newly remodeled family room. They spent a lot of time with us explaining the differences in sound from various speakers. They are a little pricey but worth it if you want the best sound. Really good guys to work with too.

I have worked with other AV stores in town and wandered into this store to see what they had. They were great with spending time with me to,show the difference in sound quality, based on equipment and speaker positioning. They came out to the house to look at things and provided a ton of free consulting on the setup. They really know their stuff and the passion shows through. I am sorry to write this review, but first. The guys at the store are great and I met the owner who was also really great. But I think that you have to be careful on how much they charge you. First, they tried twice to charge me for wiring that should have already been done. The first time they let it go, and the second time, I just paid the extra $170.
Second, they tried to sell me a demo AV receiver for $1,700 that I can get brand new for $1,500. I thought that was kind of odd.
I did a lot of speaker comparisons and was looking at the B&W CM9's or the Mozart Grand SE's

This is an unusual review because I actually didn't buy anything. Let me back up. I did buy an in-wall speaker system, but we ended up moving to Southern California after purchasing the speakers. I put down a 70% deposit, but the owner ended up refunding the full deposit without any restocking or return fee. He even helped me with finding a good drywaller to patch up our house! To sum up, these guys know their stuff in terms of high-end high quality home entertainment systems and their service/customer satisfaction matches their equipment. Honorable guys.

This is a great little audio store, and after talking to the owner, you can really tell his passion for the hobby. They're very generous in allowing lots of listening time, and the owner was very free with advice and conversation. Very nice little store, and although they only carry a few brands, you can tell they love what they carry.
