Growing up in the Northwest, I was raised by hard-working, middle class parents. My father modeled a servant's heart. He was, however, no businessman. Watching our multigenerational family business implode before my very young eyes, I knew I had to keep that from happening to others. If that wasn't enough, my father died young at age 50 from a massive heart attack.
I had just turned 18. It was no coincidence that months after that, I dropped my major and began a life filled with massive exercise and physical activity: running, cycling, tennis, soccer, weightlifting and the martial arts, to name just a few.
