Allegheny Excavating is built on tradition of forward-thinking, and strong work ethic. In 1977, Mr. Gary Sippel - equipped with a single, CAT backhoe - set forth as the founder and sole employee our company. However, viewing excavation through a lens of possibility (and keeping an eye on emerging, cutting-edge of technology), his fleet and workforce began to grow.
Buoyed by a reputation for detail, and dedicated, long-term employees, Mr. Sippel's focus evolved from routine utilities projects to complete residential site development. Keeping an orientation toward possibility, his business expanded throughout the 80s, 90s, 2000s, and it continues growing today.

An award-winning, Pittsburgh-area excavation company, AEI has been shaping the earth - and in turn, standards of the industry - for more than 35 years. Renowned for attention to detail, our dirtworks specialties include large-scale site prep; major earth moving; and installations of water line, storm and sanitary sewers for commercial, industrial, and residential developments.
Allegheny Excavating, Inc. is a leading merit shop site contractor serving the Greater Pittsburgh community. Our seasoned, professional staff ensures projects are completed both on schedule, and on budget. AEI gets the job done, and we don't miss deadlines. Ever. Really! It just doesn't happen. Mass excavation and rock crushing.
Consistently showing great initiative and leadership, Scott has been a top performer throughout his seventeen years at AEI, the last thirteen of which he has spent as a foreman. He is a "working foreman" who runs the entire job from the seat of his dozer, using its GPS technology to exercise greater control and efficiency.
Every championship caliber team has the "glue guys" - the ones absolutely essential to a team's success. And without question, the glue holding AEI's team together is our mechanics. Working around the clock (both on site, and in the AEI shop) our mechanics team puts in 15+ hour work days to ensure timely completion of projects.
We're seeking Laborors and Heavy Equipment Operators to guide our expanding CAT fleet. Individuals should be safety oriented; operate with integrity; be driven to succeed; and must be able to effectively communicate within a team. Experience in site excavation, grading, main-line utility trenching/installation, and GPS excavation knowledge is preferred.
