14th Street Garden Center was first a Farmers Market. As the clientele of Hoboken and Jersey City changed so did the business. From the early years the patriarch of the business sold fruit and vegetables off the back of a wagon through the cobblestone streets of Jersey City. The wagon is proudly displayed in the store during the holidays as a reminder of where it all started.

Services
All customers and employees entering our retail space can feel comfortable if they choose to wear a masks. In our Garden Center, we have placed directional arrows on the floor to allow for a more comfortable shopping experience. For both our safety and yours, we have placed plexiglass dividers at our potting station & cash registers.

This Garden Center is on the 14th street in Jersey City right at the start of the I-78. We went here after reading a lot of positive reviews about the place. For the plants they have a lot of options to choose from. Although a little on the expensive side their staff is the extremely helpful in explaining and answering any questions one may have. We had very basic knowledge about plants and they made sure we got all our questions answered. Will surely return here for all my plant needs.

Such a great spot in the middle of a growing concrete and developmental jungle. They have a great collection and variety of indoor and outdoor plants, artsy pot selections and gardening equipment. Some plants are a total steal while some are on the pricier side. You just have to be wise about your pick. Very helpful staff too.

My bf surprised me by taking me here to pick plants, on him. I picked a Spotted Begonia and a fantastic Burgundy Rubber Tree. My pick has nearly perfect foliage, 6 full stems, and stands about 2.5ft tall for $40. They had one Ruby of the same height, but the foliage was not as healthy or full as the Burgundy ones. There were plenty of trending houseplants to choose from, like assorted succulents, air plants, Calatheas, Snow Queen Pothos, Silver Pothos, and String of Dolphins that hung 2 feet long.

Kinda glad I didn't find this nursery at the beginning of the pandemic when I first turned into a plant mom, lol! they have a much more exotic and wider selection than most but definitely a bit overpriced and I would've been totally broke cuz this place has addiction potential. I did manage to find a Monstera Ginny there which I swore would be the 'last plant I'll ever buy'. Sure. Their accessories seemed more reasonably priced, resisting the urge to go back again.

I've gotten so many plants here and they're all thriving (except the ones I mistreated). Can be a bit pricy, but worth it for the quality and opportunity to support a small local business. They do sometimes have plants on clearance, which I enjoy purchasing and trying to rehabilitate. Thank you 14th Street Garden Center for making my home a jungle!

I guess I can't blame anyone else but myself but this place sells too many hole-less pots compared to holed ones. It's a real shame because they have a nice selection of pots and we've resorted to drilling a hole ourselves. I overheard others planning to do the same as they browsed the pots selection. It's utterly baffling why a serious plant store such as this would sell so many pots without drainage holes! We bought 3 pots in the last 4 months from here and 1 we were able to drill a hole, the other 2 were too hard.

If you are local to Hoboken + JC and need a plant I can tell you that right now they are FULLY stocked. There is a large outdoor greenhouse with tons of outdoor plants (hangers, herbs, trees, and on and on).
Inside you can find tons of indoor plant selection like succulents, cactus, palms, and potters. The potters are so cute and funky and way cuter than what I've seen at most garden stores.
Prices are higher than the Home Depots / Lowes of the world, but lower than some of the other local shops that you'll find around town. And the selection

I am about to be a plant dad. Lol. I Have been on the martlet for a few plants but I have been apprehensive because I have purchased a few in the past that were already infected with mold and died quickly.
The plants here are healthy and vibrant. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I want a few plants that will thrive in low light and a few for my living room. I got exactly what I was looking for.
They do have a nice collection of pot but they are a bit pricey. For now I will splurge on the plants and keep shopping for more pots.

Great find. I really enjoy loads of plants in my home and this was a gem to stumble upon. Large space with tons of plants. Reasonably priced. Excellent customer service. If you purchase a pot and plant, they'll put them together adding dirt. They also made sure to give us the plant care instructions with each plant. I'll be back for sure.

If you're into plants, walking into this place is like being an 8-year-old kid walking into Toys-R-Us. They have a great variety of big hearty dinosaur plants, cool & interesting succulents, and even some exotic tropical plants. They'll pot anything for you for free right there, too (pretty nice selection of pots, as well). Best plant store in Hudson County!
