The Kansas Ballet Company (KBC) is a non-profit organization whose goals and objectives are to raise funds in support of classical ballet programming to provide students/dancers with the opportunities to expand their personal technique and artistic expression through dance instruction/classes, rehearsals and performances.
Kansas Ballet Academy is committed to providing the highest quality classical ballet instruction to students of all ages and levels. We want to introduce everyone to the joy of dance. Learning the art of ballet requires a considerable amount of dedication, time, and practice.
Through the nurturing guidance and individual attention of our experienced faculty, dancers from three to adult can enjoy the benefits of ballet in a way that is fun and challenging.Our syllabus is designed to safely develop the student through purposeful training while keeping long-term progress and overall health of each dancer in mind.

The Vaganova Method's detailed and scientific approach to ballet training has produced some of the finest teachers, choreographers, and dancers in history. It is hailed around the world as the safest training program for classical ballet. We are proud to introduce this acclaimed training method to our students.
Excellent education relies on excellent instruction. In long-standing classical ballet tradition, only an experienced instructor who is accomplished in their own right can safely and effectively pass down information to the next generation of dancers. Topeka's own Stephanie Heston and Russian-native Alexander Smirnov have more than 35 years of combined experience as professional ballet dancers, instructors, choreographers, and directors.
Kansas Ballet Academy employs highly-trained instructors who have abundant professional performance experience, teaching experience or college degrees. Additionally, we provide special master classes for upper-level students with world-class professional guest artists. Stephanie Heston is originally from Topeka, Kansas and enjoyed a 15 year career as a professional ballerina.

The directors are very passionate about sharing the art and discipline of ballet, using their experience as principal dancers, and also continuously learning widely about dance education.
I appreciate they respect the findings by experts, and put everyone’s safety and benefit as the first priority.
My daughter’s experience has been extremely positive and nurturing. They put dancer’s growth before money making, e.g. you pay for the participation to an event, not for each rehearsal that comes up.
The parents are also very supportive and ready to work as a team.

My daughter has danced at Kansas Ballet since they opened their doors. The directors are not only superb ballet instructors, they care for their students. They are continuously adapting to the needs of their current students. They also run a very professional business, which I’ve found rare in the arts community. I appreciate the consistency and the communication. They’ve navigated Covid amazingly well and found a way to keep their dancers engaged no matter what the current situation.

After seeing a couple negative reviews for Kansas Ballet Academy I wanted to add a positive review to let people know that KBA takes a lot of pride in teaching our children as well as taking any type of injury concern very seriously. My girls have been going here for years and they love it. There is nothing to be worried about if you are trying to make the decision of joining KBA. All of the instructors are professional, friendly and truly enjoy working with the dancers.

We have had a wonderful experience at Kansas Ballet Academy. My daughter has danced at KBA for several years. She enjoys all of her classes and we appreciate the professional teaching of classical ballet plus the nurturing environment provided by all the instructors. My young son also enjoys his classes at KBA. They’ve both loved the opportunities to dance in performances such as Kansas Ballet’s Nutcracker.
