Huff Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine
Dr. Huff ultimately wanted to be in an environment where he had an opportunity to genuinely get to know his patients and become a member of the community. Because he is dedicated to the town of Clinton and Sampson County, Dr. Huff actively contributes to civic and community events, offers special clinics, partners with area businesses, but most importantly provides preeminent orthopaedic care typically found in larger cities.

Thank you so much Dr. Huff. You went above and beyond in getting me in so quickly for my knee replacement. You took great care of me and are always accessible to me for any questions or concerns that might pop up. I really appreciate that. I feel better every day and will be better than ever in no time.
Services
Recognizing the value of a close-knit community, Dr. Huff settled on Sampson County as the location for Huff Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. He was raised in Raleigh, NC and graduated with highest honors from ECU School of Medicine. He then completed his five-year residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, FL.
Sports medicine involves the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of athletic injuries. Dr. Huff diagnoses and treats athletic injuries in children playing sports, high school and college athletes. Dr. Huff also treats middle-aged and senior citizens maintaining an athletic lifestyle. Many physicians work together to help a patient regain maximum use of an injured limb or joint.
Because joints are in constant use, they often wear out over time due to overuse or aging. Joint reconstruction or replacement may be required to relieve the resulting pain and restore function. Most joints in the body, including the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet, are synovial, permitting movement and articulation.
Arthritis is a condition that causes, pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints. Treatment for arthritis may vary, but the main goal is to reduce inflammation and pain. Most patients may try several different treatment options before finding a method that works best for their individual condition.
The carpal tunnel is a narrow, fibrous passage in the wrist that protects the median nerve, which runs down the length of arm and through the wrist into the hand. It controls some hand movement, and sensation in the thumb, index and middle fingers, and half of the ring finger.

Irritation or compression of the median nerve within the carpal tunnel can cause tingling and numbness in the fingers, as well as pain in the arm, a condition known as carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS).CTS is linked to, among other conditions, wrist injuries and diabetes, and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.

I don't recommend. Dr. Huff, through workers comp was responsible for a family members' surgery and he has continued to under-prescribe and neglect the standard of care by giving out weaker narcotics instead of safely prescribing the stronger ones, leaving my family member to suffer and have to go through hell the first few weeks. When I called his office on September 14th to express my concerns and their nurse "Rella" instead of returning my call she contacted my family member and told them I tried to call the doctor which my family already knew about. HIPAA law says nothing about listening to

My grandmother had an appointment with Dr. Huff, we went 45 minutes early just to go ahead and be checked in. Still waited 2 hours just to go to the back. I kept asking the front desk which kept getting irritated “why was the wait so long?” being that everyone behind her kept getting called back basically as soon as they got there. The front deck receptionist got tired of me going up there so she put us in the back waiting room to wait even longer! After so many hours a nurse finally told me that Dr.Huff had an emergency and had to go out to give emergency surgery which was completely understandable

I called for my husband on a Tuesday for a problem with his knee. They got us in on Thursday. By Thursday afternoon covid testing preop and surgery was all setup. He had surgery on Wednesday. Great follow up. Dr Huff and his staff were informative and made sure we knew what was going on.. Great service. Friendly atmosphere. Helpful staff. Short wait times. Very well organized.

This guy should not be practicing medicine my father had a knee replacement from him and was always in pain. So he had to go to Wilmington to get it replaced with the right size knee. I have also went to him and he used to be helpful until I said “dude” something is not right about my ankle! He said I’m not your “dude” and walked out! Really not helpful Huff your care for your patients has went downhill!

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE!!!!
My husband had a bunion surgery on right toe in 2018. Dr. Huff said my husband would be able to walk and bend his toe with no problems after six months. Here we are two later and my husband has to get another surgery to fix what Dr. Huff did. We was told before my husband went there not to let dr huff do his surgery because they had a bad experience with dr huff. If I could have given no stars I would have.

I can't say enough about Dr. Huff. He's got great bedside manners, fixed my thumb and found 2 stress fractures when no one else had.
He's so great that the office is always packed. There is a TV or bring a smartphone/book as you will most likely have to wait.
Clean. Sports decor. Has two rubber track lanes for the hall. Too cool.
EDIT: My patient portal won't let me send questions so I'm posting.
'I get the worst service from the front desk. If they don't answer they stick you on hold and forget you.
I was just on hold for 15 minutes listening to a crackly recording, hung up and called back

It's been 7-8 yrs ago, but Dr Huff is the most compassionate and yet aggressive MD I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and having him treat me.
It was an emergency, somewhat. I had developed cellulitis is an amputated arm (below elbow) and the cellulitis was near the end of the amputation. I had not gotten severe yet but would have within 24hrs, I guess.
He saw me the first time for this, worked me in at near the close of his office but he got my admission to Clinton Hospital that evening, and completed the needed surgery the next morning...unbeatable.
Excellent personality and bed side

Dr. Huff was both professional and informative, and he asked an abundance of questions both pre and post surgery to ensure that I understood the procedure and the recovery process. My knee feels good as new, and I would recommend anyone needing knee surgery to consult with Dr. Huff before getting operated on by another surgeon. FIVE STARS!!
