It is no secret that our recent circumstances have affected everyones lives in ways we never thought possible. We have all had to re-invent ourselves and create a new normal. Many of us had to start "thinking outside the box" when dealing with going to work, raising our children, and running our businesses.

Here at the Mountain Shop at Lutsen Mountains, we have done just that! We got together and did a lot of brainstorming about how we could continue to provide our community with the same excellent service and unique gifts and apparel as we always have. This is the result of some great people coming together and finding a solution.

The owner is enforcing mask wearing for all patrons vaccinated or not. This is not following any guidance from the CDC or MN mandates. When met at the front door the staff is extremely rude about enforcing this upon patrons. Many people in line were confused along with us, as this is the only retailer on the north shore that is forcing vaccinated to mask up. Spend your money elsewhere…there are plenty of local shops wanting and needing business.

Can't wait until this shop goes out of business. Doesn't deserve 1 customer. Rude nasty worker.

Although I’m sure this shop is very nice, the owner is not. Mask mandates were lifted a while ago, and her tone regarding masks when we entered was completely rude and uncalled for. Not to mention the note she put on her door regarding the masks, it wasn’t professional in the least.

Extremely rude staff, would not recommend if you want a welcoming experience. One of the staff said rude things to my daughter. NEVER going again.

The Mountain Shop had amazing sales on top quality brands. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the products. My son packed his own clothes for our trip, so out of necessity we hit the shop for wool socks and a new jacket, without which his experience would have been miserable. We were back at the shop again the next day to buy him a new helmet, goggles, and gloves for next season. The spring sale prices paired with high quality gear were too good to pass up!

Our visit to the Lutsen Mountain ski area in September 2016 was amazing. The gondola ride was well worth the $45 for 2 people, as the views were incredible. Even better, the small restaurant at the top of the hill was delicious and reasonably priced- we had the smoked gouda BLT with garlic mayo and waffle fries- yum! There are two more overlook areas at the top when you arrive via gondola, which are beautiful in the fall. We had a great time and would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed, fun, and romantic day trip.
