Red Barn Bicycles
Due to the very limited availability of parts, and now shipping delays, we are currently running up to 2 weeks out on most of our services. Red Barn Bicycles provides quality bicycle repair and unique bicycle brands and products to the greater Williamsburg area and all of southeastern VA. The barn is located in Barhamsville where customers are able to drop off/pick-up repairs or sit and talk about their next custom bike.
Services
Robert Maye grew up as an army brat in Germany and Kentucky. When he was 15 his love of backpacking with the boy scouts led him to his first job in an outdoor store that sold bikes. He showed great mechanical aptitude and after his first mountain bike race that same year he was hooked for life. Three years in the Army in Louisiana, Haiti, and Texas later, he went back to the bike shop and worked as lead mechanic in shops in Texas and Virginia.
Please call (757)645-6985 or (757)329-3146 before you come out, we do our best to be here during these hours, but it's just the two of us and life happens. From Williamsburg take exit 227 and bear right at the top of the ramp towards West Point. We are located 1.5 miles down the road on the left-hand side.
Learn the basics-how to change a flat tire quickly and easily, how to clean and lube your drivetrain, how to deal with a broken chain and make minor adjustments. Classes are limited to 5 students. Payment can be made by mailing a check or we can take a credit card number over the phone. Learn how to do what the bike shops do-from the basics all the way through hub and bottom bracket overhauls to spoke replacement and wheel truing.
Parts-wise we (usually) have in stock: Chains, cassettes, cables, housing, handlebar tape, grips, basic pedals, water bottle cages, used wheels, basic replacement saddles, water bottles, Red Barn Bicycles branded jerseys, shorts, bibs, and hats. We may also have a very limited number (ie, 1 or 2) CO2 cartridges, lights, locks, seat packs, floor pumps, etc.
Customer feedback is how we know we're on track, and reviews are a great way to help other customers find us. Here are some testimonials we've received, and if you feel so inclined scroll down for a list of places you can leave us a review. I finally made it by the shop today, I got to see Sharon (it's been too long) and meet Porter (what a great boy), and best of all, see the new shop.

I went today based on the other reviews and glad I did. My grandsons bike had a bent frame near rear gear area and the gear assembly was busted as well. It was basically repaired while we waited and was very reasonable in price. I recommend highly.

Wow, I don't write reviews too often but felt compelled to give Robert my highest recommendation! The chain on my bike was damaged so I drove up from Newport News based on advice from a co-worker.
Not only did he replace the chain, he found some other damage that needed repairs. My bike now shifts like it's brand new! Thanks!

Robert is the nicest down to earth guy you could meet. In addition he is a professional bike repair guy. I wouldn’t take my bike anywhere else for service. He carries many brands and types, but will also custom build for your needs. He isn’t about making money so much as to provide true real life advice from his many years of riding. He races mtn bikes, road bikes and does long distance off road trips including the Great Divide (Canada to Mexico).
Highly recommended

This was my 1st experience with Red Barn Bicycles. Prices were great. The turn around time was fast. The repair on my bike was done right. Well worth the drive out to Barhamsville for sure.

I needed a tube for a bicycle that my daughter wanted to use this weekend. The other blew out when I was pumping them up at lunch time. I couldn't find one in West Point. Walmart didn't have one. I turned to Yelp and found Red Barn Bicycles right in Barhamsville on New Kent Highway. How convenient. I called Robert an left a voice mail. He called back in 3 minutes and had exactly what I needed for $6! It was so convenient and he's got quite a nice shop. Looks like he's servicing high tech and ordinary bikes.
Trust the directions on your phone! The Red Barn is right behind

Robert serviced two bikes for my wife and I; they looked like new when picked up and shift/ brake beautifully. He replaced my Shimano shifters with SRAM twist shifters due to my thumb pain. We rode today, with my only complaint being the cool weather with 100% humidity. Bundle up!

I am new to road bikes. I purchased a used road bike to start getting into it and took it to Red Barn for a tune up. It was well worth it, the work done was great. Robert explained what he was doing and why. The pricing was fair. I will definitely take my bike back to him and would recommend him to anyone looking for quality work and products.

Robert and Sharon run a one of a kind bike shop in Virginia. There is no other in the area that can match. From the customer service to Rob ' s knowledge and insight to all things bike-related, it is always an enjoyable time spent at the shop. If you are a bike fanatic, the shop is a recommended stop if you are ever in the Williamsburg area.

Robert is hands down the best bicycle mechanic I know. He built my custom single speed and maintains all my bikes. I live in Sufoflk and gladly make the trip to see Robert and Sharon for all my bike needs. They are friendly, eager to help, and make their customers feel like friends. Give them a call, you won't regret it!

I can not say enough good things about Red Barn, but I'll try! Last year I bought a junker bike from a thrift store (as a commuter bike) and Robert got it in perfect working order on the cheap, helping out a recent college graduate get to work every day. I can't thank him enough for that. Then my girlfriend, who had bought a bike from Robert 5 years ago, came with me one time to the shop and he instantly remembered both her name (from meeting her once) and knew exactly which bike she had bought from him 5 years ago!
Fast forward to present day: I was looking for a road bike and Robert said there

For as long as I can remember Robert has been the only wrench I've ever trusted to work on my bikes. He has taken that same level of dedication to Red Barn Bicycles and expanded it in every way. From custom builds to simple everyday repairs and tune-ups you can trust RBB 100% to do the job right and at a fair price...all with a smile and kind word, it's old school small town service at it's best!!

Robert Maye, in the cycling world, is the "real deal". Robert had been working for one of the larger, local bike shops for years. He was not only their top producing lead technician, he was their #1 salesperson. In 2012 he and his partner, Sharon Oakley, followed their dream of having their own bike shop and Red Barn Bicycles was born.
If you are looking for individual attention with the areas finest technician or advice on a custom build Robert is your guy. I have been using Robert's services for the past 9 years and I highly recommend Red Barn Bicycles as your top choice for everything
