Melissa K. Hancock limits her practice to the areas of family law, estate planning and probate. Practicing since 2003, Ms. Hancock has extensive experience and has honed her skills in these areas. Ms. Hancock obtained her board certification in Marital and Family Law from the Florida Bar in 2016 and is currently one of only two board certified attorneys in Marital and Family Law in Ocala, Florida.

Melissa K. Hancock was born and raised in Panama City, Florida. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University in 1997. Ms. Hancock taught fourth grade for two years and assisted with writing the curriculum for a conflict resolution program for grades K-5.
Originally from the Bronx, New York, Julianne relocated to Central Florida in 1995, where she currently resides with her husband and two daughters. Since 2010, she has worked in various areas of law including Family Law, Probate, Estate Planning, Workers' Compensation and Bankruptcy. Julianne obtained an Associate of Science degree in Paralegal Studies, with honors, from Rasmussen University and became a Florida Registered Paralegal in 2021.
Emily was born and raised in Ocala, Florida. Prior to joining the Law Office of Melissa K. Hancock, P.A., Emily worked in Customer Service for Publix for five years. She attended the Law Academy at Marion Technical Institute for two years during high school. Emily is usually the first point of contact for clients with the Law Office of Melissa K. Hancock, P.A., and she strives to make each potential and current client feel welcomed.

Attorney Melissa Hancock is the only board certified female divorce attorney for 50 miles that I am aware of. She is an excellent attorney and even more a wonderful and giving daughter, friend and human being.
She is genuine and real and whether she’s acting as an opposing counsel or a guardian ad litem, she works diligently. Most of the attorneys in town refer our adoption cases to her because she is the best in the business.
If I were getting divorced, or had a custody issue, I wouldn’t think twice about hiring her. She is as honest as they come-and will work for you as hard as possible

I have known Ms. Hancock for over 10 years professionally and personally. She is very thorough and in my experience, clients are already ahead of the game by hiring her because the judges really respect her.
I was reading her reviews and I’m sorry but I have to comment. I’ve worked with lawyers for decades. Lawyers charge for phone calls and emails. That’s standard. But I’ve never heard anyone complain about Ms. Hancock’s billing.
It’s not fair that someone would write a review and complain about what the retainer they had to sign must have spelled out. I do not know of a lawyer that

I wholeheartedly recommend Ms. Hancock as a family law attorney. She will take her time with you, go over all of the relevant facts, give you advice on what to do, and represent you zealously. I have had many cases with Ms. Hancock and she is always respectful and professional. A more honest attorney you could not find.
