Oftentimes, substance abuse and or dependence masks an underlying mental illness (es). Acute and chronic substance abuse can precipitate substance-induced psychosis, which can mimicthe psychotic disorders in the DSM-V. A substance abuse evaluation is given to determine the effects of a street drug and or prescribed medication(s) on an individual's social, emotional, financial, legal, academic and or occupational functioning.
Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) is an empirically-based treatment approach that is utilized in the treatment for myriad psychiatric disorders. It is a solution-focused approach that focuses on the present and helps patients identify and restructure maladaptive patterns of thinking and behaving, which results in changes in emotional experience and expression.
Individualized Education Programs (IEP's) are an essential academic modification for children, adolescents and adults with cognitive, intellectual, and or learning disorders to help them successfully complete their academic tasks. Every individual is unique in how they learn and process information.
