Alarm Control Systems, Inc. was started in 1969 by Nathaniel W. Naegle. Initially the company provided fire alarm design, installation and service. In 1974 the company merged with Centralarm, a security installation and central station monitoring company, and Alarm Control became a wholly owned subsidiary of Centralarm.

In 2020 Utah State University (USU) in Logan, Utah contracted Alarm Control Systems to replace the Halon 1301 fire suppression system protecting their SER Building Data Center with an environmentally friendly FM-200 clean agent fire extinguishing system. FM-200 clean agent is a colorless, odorless gas that is electrically non-conductive and is approved for use in occupied spaces at effective extinguishing concentration.
