Lindsay Machine Works, Inc. was founded by Mike and Susanna Lindsay in 1994, just east of Kansas City, Missouri. Our company's story, however, starts 14 years earlier in 1980 when Mike left Kansas City and entered a U.S. Navy machinist school in San Diego, CA. After machinist school, Mike worked on a destroyer tender, the USS Prairie, in the machine shop onboard.
We specialize in short-run manufacturing, providing precision machined parts and components using state-of-the-art CNC (Computer Numerical Control) turning lathes, CNC multi-axis vertical milling centers and Surface Grinders. With a variety of equipment and machine tools of all different sizes and types, it is rare for us to find a job too big, too difficult, too precise, or too complex to be outside our capabilities.
At Lindsay Machine Works, Inc., one of the most sought-after capabilities is our precision CNC (Computer Numeric Control) Turning and CNC Milling. Beyond traditional 3-axis CNC Milling, we also offer both 4th & 5th Axis CNC milling. This gives us the ability to machine more complex features or more features on more sides with less re-positioning and fixturing- thus improving our ability for tight tolerances.
In these days of software driven CNC's, there still remains a need for machining operations that require manual manipulation of a conventional machine tool being operated by a skilled machinist. Manual machining offers flexibility in both process and uniqueness for a quality and cost-effective solution for small quantities of less than 5 pieces.
Our welding & fabrication department has a wide range of capabilities. From replicating existing assemblies, working from drawings, or tailor designing a custom assembly for your application, we can do the job. At Lindsay Machine Works, we have the skills and equipment to complete your project as you request.

As others have stated, this shop was very easy to deal with on my project. I had an item that needed to be machined out of a piece of aluminum and they did a fantastic job with the verbal specs that I had given them. They also were very quick to get to my project and prompt on meeting the time frame they quoted me. Kudos to Doug and his staff for the ease, timing, and quality of the finished project. Will definitely use them (and refer to others) again for any other items I need machined.

Great place to get parts done fast and well. Anything from 1 piece to 1,000 this place will take on almost any job! I had the amazing opportunity to work for them a little under a year and a half, and they took me on knowing I had little experience, in the end I definitely needed more years under my belt because the people there are absolute pros, but I learned a lot with my time there! I’d highly recommend anyone that has some years in the field of machining and a good grasp on setting up to apply, they take great care of their employees and it really has that family feel to it. 3 years ago I was a 45 year old single mother of a newborn when Mike Lindsay hired me and the entire staff welcomed me with open arms, I can’t tell you how much that meant to me. All companies have their ups and downs and 2020 certainly was a test- but we, the Lindsay Machine Works Family, worked together to overcome all the obstacles and persevered. The owners, machinists and office staff are a great group of people and I am so happy to work here.

Our production warehouse has used this company many times for various projects with both steel and aluminum parts, as well as welded lifting devices. The only thing I’ve requested there that they don’t do is case-hardened parts, and from what I’ve found, neither does anyone else in KC.
