Riprap, also known as rip rap, rip-rap, shot rock, rock armor or rubble, is rock or other material used to armor shorelines, stream beds, bridge abutments, pilings and other shoreline structures against scour and water or ice erosion. It is made from a variety of rock types, commonly granite or limestone, and occasionally concrete rubble from building and paving demolition.
Fill dirt is usually an aggregate heavy with sand and waste materials (like crushed cement, bricks, tiles etc.) On the other end of the spectrum, top soil, is heavy with organic materials and is free of waste materials. My husband and I found Venice Hauling on Craigslist. We are always a bit skeptical when dealing with Craigslist - but Venice Hauling came through for us with quality material, on time delivery, and respectful employees. Over the past several months, we have gone back to Venice Hauling many times ordering clean fill (this stuff is AMAZING) and road base. Out of 12 or so deliveries, there has not been a single problem!
