Ankle pain is often due to an ankle sprain but can also be caused by ankle instability, arthritis, gout, tendonitis, fracture, nerve compression (tarsal tunnel syndrome), infection and poor structural alignment of the leg or foot. Ankle pain can be associated with swelling, stiffness, redness and warmth in the involved area.
An ankle sprain is an injury to one or more ligaments in the ankle, usually on the outside of the ankle. Ligaments are bands of tissue-like rubber bands-that connect one bone to another and bind the joints together. In the ankle joint, ligaments provide stability by limiting side-to-side movement. Some ankle sprains are much worse than others.

Dr Rubin was very patient explaining everything to me. He gave me options for my problem, and I didn’t feel like he was forcing procedures on me to make money. He was willing to talk to the insurance if there was any problems, and recommended a great place to get my MRI done.
His office staff was friendly and very helpful. I would definitely recommend Dr Rubin for any foot/ankle needs.
