Services
The Texas Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center offers volunteer training in refractive screening and recycled eyeglass usage at their center at 2550 Flynt in Midland, Texas each month. This training provides lay persons the hands-on practice and information on the equipment and skills needed to provide recycled eyeglasses to individuals in developing countries and/or in screening clinics in other areas.

Children in Texas School Districts are eligible for the program. It is normal practice that a report from the local School will identify children that have a deficiency in seeing and are recommended to be fitted with glasses. If the support for the child does not have sufficient funds, insurance or other means to afford the cost of glasses, the child would be acceptable for the Lions program to make children's glasses.
TLERC relies on special gifts from Trusts, Foundations, Corporations and philanthropic individuals to fund training missions to set up new recycling centers and vision centers abroad; and to obtain the equipment needed for adult and children screening programs. Platinum Knights are those special donors providing gifts or grants of $10,000 or greater.
All Lions have been challenged by Helen Keller to be "Knights of the Blind". A "Visionary" recognizes that this fight is never ending. Thus, Visionary Knights of the Blind provide perpetual help by gifting at least $100 per year or a monthly contribution of at least $10 per month. This can be done by check or credit card or a bank draft (please contact us to set up a bank draft).
