Services
Here's what you can expect during a visit to Placid Audiology: A hearing exam takes place in our soundproof room. You will listen to a series of tones at different volumes and pitches through headphones, and indicate each time you hear one, no matter how soft. You will be asked to repeat words and phrases which can help determine how clearly you can understand speech, both in quiet and noisy situations.
Exams ranging from hearing screenings to comprehensive diagnostic hearing evaluations can be performed in our office utilizing state of the art equipment. Dr. Karen Wolff has over 30 years of experience as an audiologist performing hearing tests and explaining the results in terms you can understand.
Tinnitus is a symptom, not a disease. Many people experience tinnitus as a ringing in their head or ears, but it can also be a buzzing, humming, whistling, clicking, or the sound of a roaring ocean. It can be soft, loud, constant, or intermittent, and can even cause sleep disturbance. Dr. Karen Wolff is passionate about helping people gain control of their tinnitus.
At Placid Audiology Dr. Karen Wolff takes time with each patient to discuss hearing test results and develop a hearing care plan. Your hearing ability, lifestyle, cosmetic considerations, dexterity, and budget are all factors to consider when determining what technology may be right for you during a hearing aid consultation.
We can repair, reprogram, and service most makes of hearing aids, even if not purchased from Placid Audiology. We honor the manufacturer's warranty and can send your aid to them for repair. If your aid is not under warranty, we can often make repairs in our office to save you time and money, or send to the manufacturer for repair and to obtain an extended warranty.
