Welcome to Split Rock Park Campground, located on the Northwestern edge of Garretson where a small waterfall is created by a dam across the Split Rock Creek, drawing the eye and attention of all who cross the bridge into town!
Split Rock Park houses both RV and tent camping sites which include 30/50 amp sites, boat launch areas that are perfect for canoes and kayaks, a small swimming area north of the dam, a beautiful view of three unique bridges, playground, fishing areas, and an old Sioux Quartzite visitor center that houses a small museum and snack area.

Beautiful little park off the beaten path. A tree fell on our camper during a storm and the townspeople and park staff showed up by 7:30 am to get the tree off our rig. They were wonderful and I hope to get back up there next summer with our new camper. Shout out to the fire department for showing up during the storm to cut the trees away from the door so we could get out. I told the dispatcher that we would be ok til after the storm passed. But I was so Happy to see all those spot lights shining on us in the middle of the night. It was such a relief. We met some wonderful people camping next to

This place started out like any horror movie. Great to begin with. There is a beautiful waterfall and park, quiet, kids playing on the playground, starry sky at night. Campsites are really beautiful, easy access to water. You're nestling in to bed, dozing off and the loudest train you can imagine comes barreling through straight from hell. This continued all night, horn blaring each time. There were train tracks when we drove in, but hoped they weren't that active. Turns out, they are VERY active. Park is gorgeous, but I would only camp here if you like loud trains all night long.

Ok....I can't comment on the campground, since I have never camped here. I know the trains are a pain in the butt, though. The bathrooms are just port-a-pots and vault toilets, with no shower facility. Nothin' fancy, but it serves my purpose just fine.
My rating is based purely on the scenic beauty of the area....and it is spectacular !! I'm an avid kayaker, so I try to make it here at least a couple times a year. There really is no where else in this area that can beat the scenery. The access to Split Rock Creek is just upstream from the spillway. You can then paddle upstream for probably 1 1
