Services
David Klass studied art and architecture at Pratt Institute. Upon graduation he apprenticed with the noted American artist, Theodore Roszak, assisting in the fabrication and installation of public art works for the city of New York. Subsequently, the Judaic artist founded his own studio and began designing pieces for the home, synagogue, and other institutions of Jewish identity.
Today, your beautiful inspiration in sculpture was raised to a position of importance, and occupies that position with stunning spiritual presence. I am so grateful, to you, for creating something that will now be a part of our interfaith chapel for our School's next 150 years. I do look forward to showing you it in place in our chapel.
David Klass takes great pride in the arks for synagogues he has created. Styles for the Aron Kodesh range from traditional European designs, such as the synagogue ark doors at the Plainview Jewish Center, to the bold contemporary, award-winning ark at Oheb Shalom. Often, tree of life designs representing Torah are featured as the visual concept.
Mr. Klass feels strongly that the Ner Tamid needs to make a strong statement because it symbolizes the light of God's eternal presence. While this light is a symbol of the Divine, it is also a symbol of the community and communal responsibility. Working with your community or committee, together we can bring the inspiring light of God and his goodness into your sanctuary.
Our memorials can be seen in houses of worship and public spaces throughout the United States, the U.S. Virgin Island, Canada, and Europe. This sculptural work can be created for interior and exterior sites, from monumental to miniature both in relief and freestanding. Styles range from traditional to modern, and from abstract to realistic, including human forms, such as those created for Beth Emeth in Wilmington, DE.
