When it comes to your final arrangements, shouldn't you make the decisions? The arrangements you make will reflect your exact wishes and desires. The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).

One of the worst experiences I have ever had. My dog of 15 years had to be put to sleep rather suddenly on July 24th, so we asked Morgan's funeral home to handle the cremation, as they offer this service. In the rush, we forgot to remove his collar and asked Morgan to please save it for us. I picked up his ashes on July 26th and he informed me "he got in a hurry and forgot to remove his collar". Accidents happen, I get it, but he made no offer to make things right. He didn't offer any money back, not a new keepsake to replace the one he lost, nothing.
