HJ Towing & Recovery, Inc. provides heavy and light duty towing, rollback calls, roadside repairs, PA state and federal inspections, auto, truck and trailer repair, load transfers, recoveries and landoll services. Her husband Jake is also an officer and a vital part of the company's success. Jake has been involved with the towing industry since 1985.
HJ Towing and Recovery Inc. offers a variety of services from; transportation, towing and recovery, heavy haul, off road recovery, a full service repair shop (major or minor on any piece of equipment), mobile repair, decking/un-decking of trucks, on site- fleet Maintenance, accident clean up and more!
Andrew Smith, heavy wrecker operator for HJ Towing & Recovery and firefighter, was killed when a tractor-trailer driver failed to move over for him while he was assisting a disabled pickup truck on Route 581 westbound around Mile Marker 7.0 in Lemoyne PA. Andy was loading a Dodge Ram pickup onto a rollback when tractor-trailer, driven by a 63-year old from NY, struck and killed him.

I had a flat tire on the highway but no tools and after AAA called them multiple times for an update on a driver they finally called me after 2 and a half hours just to confirm my location (which I already gave to AAA) and tell me they are going to dispatch for a driver, then just hung up. I called back to ask if there was an estimated time and was just told “no” followed by silence. I confusingly said okay and an hour and a half later was able to get a friend to bring the tools I needed to change my tire. I called back to tell them I no longer need the driver and was told they still hadn’t

Do not use. I used them for a road call service for a tractor that was not building air. The technician arrived and said the air dryer had failed and needed to be replaced. I approved the repair and he put a new air dryer on. After running the truck, the new air dryer filled with oil, which meant the air compressor had failed, NOT the air dryer. The technician then tells me that the old air dryer was full of oil as well. If they would have told me that to begin with, I wouldnt have approved the repair. $1500 later, and a tow to a reputable repair shop, and the truck is back on the road. ( I had

I normally don’t leave reviews for places or services that I’ve received but I had to get my car towed from Carlisle to Chambersburg and the young man (Jacob) did a great job and in a timely manner despite how late it was and how cold it was. Witch was around 12 o’clock midnight in under 30° and aside from how well he worked. He was kind, patient, polite and knew how to give and receive instructions. I would definitely recommend HJ Towing and Recovery to anyone in the Carlisle area and Jacob in particular.

Only a half mile from the Tuscarora Mountain Tunnel, my 2011 Volvo D13 truck started losing power, and I was forced to pull over, lest I break down in the tunnel (currently one way each direction). I spent 15 minutes poking things and scratching my head until I decided it was time to call a professional. 7 professionals later and not a one willing to send someone, I got lucky and was suggested HJ towing by a Penna Turnpike employee who saw i was having trouble (word up to Troy). They only had one guy working and he was busy with another call, but they promised he'd show up and do his best to help

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE THEY ARE A RIP OFF. I have been taking my motor home there for over 3 years and they always charged me $40 for inspection. This year they jacked the price up by $75 for a total of $110 and didn’t bother telling me until I got the bill. Tahoe it to USG they only charge $50. Jake the owner doesn’t care about the customers and Tom the quality person (joke) after a week and a half told me there is nothing they can do about it.

As a small business owner of a repair and towing facility I felt helpless when an employee broke down with a rollback in Harrisburg, Pa about 60 miles from home on a Saturday afternoon. After calling around for quick service not really interested in pricing. HJ towing took the time to quote and give me an ETA of when they would be able to provide service. HJ Towing was awesome. Stuck to the ETA, kept us informed, employee had a please ride back and to top it off we were charged 15% less than what was quoted due the fact that they stick to the actual time - I will not hesitate to recommend or use
