Italian Bakery of Virginia got our start in 1965 thanks to a traditional Slovenian family recipe for authentic Eastern European potica. Our family owned and operated Italian pastry shop in Virginia, Minnesota has continued to grow since then and has gained a following of devoted customers over the last five decades.

Today, our customers come back to our Italian pastry shop repeatedly for the delicious products we have to offer. You'll find our bakery filled with our world-famous potica, biscotti, and fruit cake in addition to other delectable pastries and even wild rice. Our homemade Potica Bread recipe is the pride of our bakery. Our authentic Eastern European Potica began in 1965 with a Slovenia family recipe. Since then, we've added our own tastes and the spices of different cultures to make a specially blended delicacy. Our walnut potica and walnut raisin varieties combine the classic flavors of this old-world favorite with a touch of new sweetness to charm every taste.
Our crisp, crunchy biscotti highlights true Italian cooking with fresh ingredients and an authentic family recipe. Choose your favorite flavor to compliment your coffee or other beverage and enjoy an after-dinner delight or breakfast treat. Savory nut varieties and rich, sweet chocolate capture every taste and make and excellent sweet, light dessert for your party, event or other gathering.
Our Italian fruit cake features a blend of candied fruits, crunchy nuts and a tangy touch of liquor to create a unique medley of hypnotic flavors. A mild crunch mixed with sugary sweetness and the slight punch of creamy liquor deliver a new take on a traditional holiday favorite. The candied fruits capture the classic festive look and feel of this famous treat while our unique, flavorful blend awakens new taste buds.
Italian wild rice is the centerpiece of hundreds of authentic European and Eastern European dishes. The hearty, creamy texture of Italian rice creates a signature texture of delicious risotto, succulent soups, casseroles, side dishes, stuffing and many more. Crisp, fresh rice forms a perfect essential base to balance these tasty favorites and create an irresistible dish.

On a family vacation driving down from Tower MN. We had to leave the campground early and skipped cooking breakfast. We're familiar with Virginia but stumbled upon this bakery.

A nice little shop. Once you opened the door the smell was delicious. The bakery had displays of cookies and doughnuts. They also have lunch choices and had chicken pot pies that morning. Our family didn't know what Potica was. The lady was so nice and offered us a sample of the Almond and Walnut. Well the lord opened my eyes to Potica. It was so delicious. I am a fan of the walnut over the almond.

The Potica here is the best--as close to what my Grandma used to make as I will ever find! The folks at this bakery are super responsive and ensure that they deliver nothing but the best. I am a raving fan!!

The potica here has been a family tradition since the dawn of time. We have it shipped in to California every year for Christmas by my fabulously generous Grandma, who's a local. It's a fabulous pastry bread with crushed walnut filling. Give it a try, and here's a tip: warm it up, and it gets even better.
