We stayed a few blocks away on Lake Leland and pretty much visited NJ's every day as inevitably someone in our household of 7 guests needed snacks, beer, or more grocery items to make a meal. The selection isn't huge as they have a smaller footprint but we found pretty much everything we needed in this small town market.

Candy, Sprite, and s'mores fixin's for my little cousin, blueberries and oatmeal for my grandma, beer for my husband and uncle, frozen soft pretzels and mustard for my aunt, brats making sausage and peppers for the group for my mom, and Moomers ice cream and

The Indian takeout is amazing. Owner seems lovely. Food is on par and totally unexpected for this area.
Didn't get 5 starts because checkout clerk was meh. Maybe she's not a fan of Tikka Masala.

Great little grocery store. I drove twenty minutes for the pre-made Indian food and wasn't disappointed. What we ordered tasted great. They may not have everything that is on the website - we didn't find everything we wanted - but what they did have was worth the drive.

Old fashioned local grocery store. Great variety, reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Good selection of dry and canned goods. Fresh meats. Local vegetables, chips and ice cream. We are here for a week and this grocery has all we need for the meals we will cook in the rental. They also have home made India style foods. The store is well stocked, organized, and clean.

What an amazing find. Some of the best Indian Food I have had. We went for the Samosa and they were so good we went back a few days later for a full Indian meal. Chicken Curry, Tikka Masala, Paneer, everything was so amazing. I would recommend calling and ordering your samosa so that you can be guaranteed they will be there.

Small, well-stocked grocery with amazing Indian food. Call a few hours in advance for fresh made, or the stuff in the cold case is fantastic as well. My wife used the restroom in the back and said she has never seen such a sparklingly clean back room before.

I just really like this place. It's easy to park about 11 feet away from the front door, it's well laid out and I can buy a weeks worth of groceries in under 15 minutes. Friendly owners. One of my favorite activities in this county.

This is a cute little grocery with a very limited selection and more pricey than the larger places. It was conveniently located near by and it was great for what we needed for the night.

The Indian food is takeout only, but what a pleasant surprise in an unlikely place. I really enjoyed the trio of curries I bought.

Pricey! This is a small grocery store that attempts to provide shopping options. The store is easy to find and parking is convenient. Some local specialties i.e. jam and jellies, wines, eggs and candies are featured here. Some items are out of stock such as spices (cinnamon and cumin).

Great people and the best home cooked pure North Indian Punjabi food I have eaten.... The samosas are fresh and delicious and the kheer reminds me of my mother. Rajni the chef is a vegetarian so she cooks all vegetarian dishes in seperate utensils.

Not just the only Indian food in the area- but possibly the best I've ever had!
They have some items ready togo but they also have a menu you can order off of. Order well in advance- for everything is made from scratch. If you need a lot of food (parties 4 or more) maybe a day before. Mali kafta, korma, samosas, naan bread , saag paneer, and chickpeas are some of my favorites. Does not come with rice so be sure to order separately so you can soak up the goodness!
Rosie's got it goin on!

Craving some good Indian food? Do you have a fever, and the only cure is some creamy, spicy chicken tikka masala? I feel you. And N J's is the place to scratch that itch. Believe it! Besides being a neat & clean, well-stocked little grocery store staffed with the nicest people (hey, it's the Leelanau Peninsula), they offer some delicious tikka masala, pakoras, samosas, naan, and a selection of mouth-watering veggie side dishes. So, see you there?

Excellent homemade Indian food -in rural northern Michigan?? What an unexpected treat! We were visiting friends in Traverse City yesterday and they ordered takeout from this grocery. I wish I didn't live two and a half hours away because I am already craving it again! We had the samosas, chickpeas, and chicken tikka masala. Everything was wonderful. Really impressed. They offer Indian cooking classes too!
