Often the best way to calm that anxiety, or even just satisfy a curious mind, is to simply learn as much as you can, so you don't have to face the unknown.

Baptist Heart offers specialists in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology, as well as surgeons who specialize in cardiovascular and peripheral vascular procedures.
The screening is a CT Scan of the heart to detect calcium deposits in coronary arteries. The presence of calcium deposits correlates directly to coronary plaque and risk of coronary disease. You will also complete a brief heart risk assessment questionnaire. Those who have a history of heart disease such as heart attack, stroke, open heart surgery, coronary artery stents, pacemaker, ICD, or other known heart disease.
And/or any of the following risk factors: smoking, overweight, lack of exercise, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high glucose. If you could be pregnant, this test is not recommended. People with coronary artery stents, pacemakers, or metal in the left side of the chest from previous surgery are excluded from the CT scan (calcium score) portion of the screening.
Age 50 with one or more of the following risk factors: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, heart disease, strong family history of vascular disease. A cardiac sonographer or nurse with specialized cardiac training will place a small, hand-held device, called a transducer, on several points of your neck and abdomen.

I go here all the time. Sometimes for myself, sometimes for my husband. The people are great and the parking is usually not difficult. I do suggest getting here a little early so that parking doesn’t make you late especially on rainy days.
