Families Matter opened its doors in November of 2003 in order to provide In-Home Behavioral Health Services to children and families within Southern New Jersey. Licensed clinical staff and certified behavioral assistants provide community-based counseling and behavioral support utilizing the wraparound model of community behavioral healthcare.
To date, Families Matter has provided service to thousands of families in Southern New Jersey, working collaboratively with New Jersey Children's System of Care, local schools, primary care physicians and other community-based organizations. In March of 2008, Families Matter expanded to include a Behavioral Health Office located in Villas, New Jersey.

Services
Adult and child psychiatric services are provided by a board certified licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner. Initial psychiatric evaluations are conducted to determine the need for ongoing psychiatric medication maintenance. Monthly appointments are scheduled to review progress and to address any issues related to medication.
Comprehensive substance abuse assessments are conducted by a licensed and certified substance abuse counselor in order to determine level of care appropriate to meet the needs of the person. A structured interview is conducted utilizing the Addiction Severity Index, a Level of Care Indicator, with treatment recommendations offered.
Comprehensive in-home behavioral health assessments are conducted by clinically licensed behavioral health providers. These one-time assessments are face -to -face interviews with the family, and include the child/children, parents, and siblings. The interview is a structured question and answer session that obtains information necessary to determine the best possible plan of action for the child and family.

I spent months looking for a facility that was willing to help my teenage daughter with depression. Either they wouldn't accept my insurance or they did not work with her age group. I didn't know what to expect when I called Families Matter, but was so pleasantly surprised from my first phone call we were treated with genuine kindness and concern for my need to find treatment.
We met with Mark, and over the past few months he has literally changed my daughters life. During our very first visit Mark listened, observed, and took her situation seriously. We were so desperate for help and scared that

Counselors are insightful and genuine, some more than others. They are very accommodating with bringing the kids to the appointments and the ladies in the office always have activities to pass the time. Doctor Mark on the other hand is a whole other story. Be prepared to wait hours in the waiting room just to be seen and not heard in under the 2 minutes he actually speaks with you. Countless times my appointments have been changed or I'm asked to come in hours after because he's running late and I'm forced to rearrange plans or sitters. His lack of organization is an absolute disgrace.

Honestly I am absolutely appalled by this "business."
I've been brought in, sent home, brought in, saw someone needs else, sent home, brought in only for paperwork, sent home. If you are going to have only ONE licensed psychiatrist, give your patients fair warning that it will be months before you get to see him. Suicide ratings are increasing every day and you really just pushed me off the phone to leave another voice mail to another department. You should be disgusted with yourselves.
