Most people think that sadness is the clearest sign of depression and sometimes it is. This is especially true if you have lost the pleasure in things that gave you joy in the past, or if you are crying a lot, or having thoughts of death. Some people suffer with sleep problems, food cravings, poor concentration, forgetfulness, irritability or anger.
When you walk into your home after a long hard day do you feel that you will be greeted with support and understanding OR do you feel overwhelmed? Happily, people are beginning to talk openly about these difficult questions rather than sweeping them under the rug. These issues can cause "marital burnout" if they are allowed to become a source of resentment or irritation to either partner.

In life, awful and upsetting things happen to people and afterwards some of them have flashbacks, nightmares and intrusive negative thoughts that take them back to that awful and upsetting day! Maybe this kind of thing is happening to you or someone you know. All of these kinds of situations can cause a person to become traumatized and can drastically affect them for many years AFTER the incident.
