Services
At NY Sports Podiatry we specialize in lower limb biomechanics. Put simply biomechanics is the motion of the body during activity. We study gait, the way you walk and run, the way your foot bones and ligaments interact with your leg bones, hip and low back. Along with your chief complaint or injury history, we evaluate whether or not your problem is caused by poor biomechanics.
It includes descriptions of our office location, including a map and directions, hours, appointment scheduling, insurance acceptance and billing policies. We have made requesting an appointment a simple process via our Web site. If for any reason you cannot keep a scheduled appointment or will be delayed, please call as soon as possible.
The ability to perform 3 camera angle treadmill gait analysis at NY Sports Podiatry is an essential diagnostic tool in the evaluation and mangement of your lower extremity problem. You will be required to wear shorts above your knees so that your lower extremity anatomy can be visualized. Angles will be drawn on your lower legs and heels to see how your hips, upper legs, lower legs and feet interact with each other.
Plantar fasciitis is the term commonly used to refer to heel and arch pain traced to a micro tearing of a muscle on the bottom of the foot. Overpronation is a common cause of plantar fasciitis. As the foot rolls inward excessively when walking and even greater when running, it flattens the foot, lengthens the arch, and puts added tension on the plantar fascia.
RPT uses a low to medium electromagnetic impulses targeted to very specific areas of the foot and ankle. The hand piece is held against the skin where the electromagnets are projected toward an applicator tip, producing a unique radial wave that penetrates into the targeted tissue. The waves penetrate 35-40mm, much deeper than other modalities (ultrasound, heat, electric stim).
